Dilemma on keeping/selling my 981 Cayman S.

For the past month, I have been have mixed emotions about selling my Cayman S. It is such a fun car but I want to move into something more exciting. Something that packs a mean punch. Maybe the next GT4. However, I find it difficult deciding how much to sell it for. Don't have a baseline on the price because of the amount of add-ons this car has. My Cayman has tons of modifications. GT3RS steering wheel, Recaro bucket seats, SOUL performance valved exhaust, rear carbon fiber diffuser and a few other goodies. If I could make my car more exciting, I would. Has 39k miles on it and just had a lot of warranty work done. Just don't know what else I can do to spice up this relationship.

Over on Planet-9, someone was advertising a new turbo kit. That might do the trick if forced induction turns your crank.

A turbo kit sounds cool but I would rather keep it NA. I think I'd rather put the money in and do a 4.0 swap for the extra juice.

Need headers, tune, intake/IPD plenum, GiroDisc, Guard LSD, etc.

How is the handling? GT3 control arms, better shocks and struts, stiffer sway bar?

JAhmed 05-20-2019 12:30 PM

4.0 swap.

Most of those mods won't add any significant value, and they may make it less desireable for some buyers. There's not much you can do to make it way more powerful and exciting other than a 3.8 or 4.0 build or FI, but if you don't track the car that should get your heart rate up.

yes, you'd be much better off parting out the mods and trying to get her as close as back to stock as possible before selling.

I myself have been looking into the market lately and probably wouldn't even consider a highly modded one unless the price was incredible ...most people looking to get into a used 981 are looking for unmolested examples.

You just got the car less then 2 months ago.... you should know how much to ask if you are selling that quickly???

You never get anything for “your” mods! Keep it, bring it back to stock and sell it, or do the 4.0!

Forget the engine mods and just find an x73 to put into it. #Heaven.

Hmmm...smells like buyer's remorse.

Then less then then two months later he's bored of his "first car" and doesn't know what it's worth, but he just bought it 45 days ago???

I knew a 19 year old kid who was getting his first sports car, a brand new Camaro.

He researched the car for weeks, watching youtube videos non-stop.

When he got the car, he quickly realized he couldn't park the damn thing to save his life, since the C pillars are gigantic with almost no rear visibility, not to mention the side windows are tiny. He wanted to return the brand new car back to the dealer after owning it for a week.

True story.
