Default Thin cable/wire behind rear bumper?

Hi,
i've just removed the rear bumper on my 2005 Boxster S to have it resprayed and the rear inner wheel arches and lower edge vinyl wrapped to prevent stone rash on the new paint.
anyway my question concerns the thin wire/cable I've discovered on the near side which starts behind the rear wheel and goes through the body and runs behind the carpet towards the lock area.

can somebody tell me what it's for?

thanks in advance

neil

In the event of an issue the wire opens the rear lid..There's also one for the frunk, I recall it's by passenger fender liner/bumper.

Many thanks, I did struggle to get into the front storage area due to a flat battery and I mean really flat and I had to use a slave battery joined to the stub in the fuse box right down by the accelerator pedal to get enough power to work the opener on the top of the coll.

Would recommend taping the wire (front & rear) in a spot where you can easily access it.
