Default OT: Luft 6 Ticket Available

I have one extra ticket for sale for the 10:00 a.m. admission for face value of $45. Thought I would offer it up here on the forum first before offering in the Classifieds. PM me if you need a ticket.

^^^^^^^ Cool! Should be epic given this year's location. Have fun!

If time permits, consider the pre-Luft "Air Meets Water" event Friday night at the Petersen:

I got mine early on but didn't expect them to sell out! But if that means a smaller crowd, I'm all for it as I'm hoping to get some good shots this year.

I ended up going to the Petersen’s event last night... it’s was Meh... not worth the money in my opinion. I did see one 981 Spyder there... silver. It was leaving as I saw it. Had “ANALOG” plates. Wish I went upstairs earlier to chat with the owner. Headed to Luft now.

"ANALOG" is "Suicide Jockey" on this thread. Too bad you guys missed each other.

Hopefully you guys had a great trip and Luft made up for any disappointments with the Petersen event.

Really nice pics. Well done!

Below are a few of my shots with some of the car descriptions taken verbatim from this article, which also contains some great photos:

https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/13/...luftgekuhlt-6/

The Universal Studios Hollywood backlot movie sets certainly provided a very unique setting for this accumulation of air-cooled talent!

"1984 Porsche 962

Estimated Value: $1.5M

A replacement for the 956, the 962 was built for IMSA GTP class of racing. This prototype Porsche was owned by Bayside Disposal and finished second at Road America in 1985."

"1969 Porsche Gulf 917 K

Estimated Value: $10M-plus

One of 25 homologation cars, this Gulf-liveried, flat-12 engine 917 K competed at Le Mans, Nürburgring, Daytona and Brands Hatch."

"1979 Porsche 935

Estimated Value: $4.5M

Paul Newman raced this 935 along with Dick Barbour and Rolf Stommelen at the 1979 24 Hours of LeMans, resulting in a second overall finish and a class win. In 2016, Adam Carolla purchased the car for $4.4M."

"1976 Porsche 934 Turbo RSR

Estimated Value: $1.5M

Built to Group 4 specs, a total of 31 934s were built using a turbocharged flat-6 engine. This particular 934 was recently restored by Canepa."

RUF Yellowbird

"1972 917/10 Turbo

Estimated Value: $10M

The 917/10 was developed from 917 coupes and would go on to compete in and win championships in Can-Am and Interserie with its turbocharged flat-12. This red specimen wearing #6 is one of the most original 917s, winning three first place finishes."

"Porsche 550 Spyder

Estimated Value: $5M

Only 90 Porsche 550s were produced for motorsports, of which many were involved in accidents. This particular specimen is very original and therefore very desirable."

Great showing of 914s for the 50th Anniversary.

Rod Emory's mad 356 outlaw project which debuted the night before at the Petersen.

Great pics Nick !!

Looks like another quality event in a very cool location.

Hope your Silver Spyder is worth 5M in 60 years time.....
Although not sure my few parade laps around Laguna Seca will count as a racing history :-)

No matter how brief your time behind the wheel, your fame and notoriety adds a colorful footnote to my car’s history and can only boost its value.
