Base or S model, is the price difference worth it?

Beauty! Congratulations on a successful search. Good choice.

I know you will both enjoy it a great deal! Take it on some trips and post some pictures so we can enjoy it along with you.

I've been following this thread for some time as I have been searching for my next car.
I picked up a 2014 Cayman over the weekend. Optioned with a Manual, Sport Chrono, PTV Differential, Sports Seats Plus, and 20 inch wheels.
With just over 3400 miles it is pretty much new in the wrapper.

So far I have been very impressed and love the sound of the engine. Such a great car.

^ If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your car? Even ballpark is fine.

Congrats by the way

Great color.. Enjoy. Now you won't second guess yourself, should we have gotten the S..

When I was first looking at Boxsters, I test drove a base one, and was really impressed (had bmw's prior) with the handling. Figured the S had the handling plus a little extra HP.. Found one 200 miles away, took it for a test ride ended up driving it home. 3 yrs later did the same thing all over again. Miss them both.

I have previously owned a 981S, and now driving a 981base. The 2.7L engine has good performance in city and canyon/mountain driving conditions where speed is limited within double digit MPH. Although when it comes to higher speed driving such as in freeway, the 3.4L certainly becomes more satisfactory.
If paying the 981S price premium does not render too much of a distress, then this really is a more reassuring choice for you in longterm.

I have a 2011 Turbo S - just drove a base Box with PDK and absolutely loved it.

I may be an owner in the next few days.

Beautiful Cayman! i'm sure you will love it as much as we do our new to us Boxster. I'm very glad we went with the S model.

We will be taking a short trip up to Eureka Springs Arkansas for the memorial day weekend. There are some nice twisty roads up that way so hope to have some photos soon. This is our first Porsche and I am star struck. Love the car, the only thing I wish it had was the sport exhaust but that can be added later.

I have virtually the same car which I bought new except it's a 2015. Have always regretted selling my previous favorite cars so have decided to keep this one as it's just a really good Porsche. FWIW, mine came new with Pirelli's which I recently replaced with Michelin Pilot Sports. Feels like a completely different car now. There was nothing wrong with the Pirelli tires but the Michelins ride smoother, are quieter and the stickier grip is downright addicting.

Awesome, I did Palloza in ESprings last year, there are def some good roads around there.. take the pig trail (Hwy 23) when there is not as much traffic..

I took my turbo last year but I plan to take the Cayman this year.. looking forward to the roads in NW Arkansas in S+ with the PSE wailing!
