Verus Engineering Shop 987.2 Track Build
This will serve as a build thread for our shop 987.2 PDK. We are a small business that produces functional aero components backed with data and analysis. We purchased the Porsche to allow us to take our testing another step with some track validation/testing. We are currently not planning on competing in anything specific; more a reliable test bed for track testing our aerodynamic components and for having fun! We will also be doing a lot of maintenance videos to hopefully aid the community as we have not found much DIY info out there for maintenance.
Modifications: Aerodynamics: Verus Engineering 987.2 Front Splitter and Air Dam Assembly Verus Engineering 987 Dive Plane Kit Verus Engineering 987 Side Splitter Kit Verus Engineering 987 Flat Underbody Panel Kit Verus Engineering 987 Rear Diffuser Kit Verus Engineering 987 Rear Spoiler and Rear Wing Kit Suspension: Factory Dampers H&R Coils Elephant Adjustable Top Hats (Currently, sourcing coilovers for our aero kit, H&Rs and top hats are temporary) Wheels/Tires: Titan7 T-S5 Porsche 987 Wheels Michelin Sport Cup 2 - 285 Rear, 265 Front https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...bcf088ac2b.png Si987.2 Aero Analysis https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...9a315e34af.png Back at the shop after a 4-hour drive to Indy The car itself has 87k miles on it and besides the wheels is completely stock. According to the previous owner, it was his daily for many years. The first thing we did; we installed all of our aero. This allowed us to create install manuals for all our products which we developed earlier in 2018. The pieces include a front splitter, an air dam, dive planes, side splitters, flat underbody panel, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, and rear wing. YES!!!! I've been waiting for this. I'm very interested is seeing your analysis on operating temps with the engine and pdk with your front aero and rear diffuser. Specifically airflow into the radiators and then any temp increase from "encasing" the mufflers. In for updates! I will be ready for aero this year now that the suspension is done on the track car.

Since the car is new to us; and we have no idea the past service history, I am performing quite a bit of maintenance. Spark plugs were on the list earlier this week and it looked like the car needed it. Below is a photo of the spark plugs that came out of the car and a DIY video that can be used to aid other owners in doing it themselves. Few more maintenance items are taken care of. We changed the PDK fluid as well as the gear oil (currently mileage is 87k and we have no idea on the car's past history). We did a short youtube video on how we changed the fluid without the PIWIS Porsche tool. Overall I am quite glad we changed the fluid as it appeared to be dirty and now we know we have clean fluid for tracking this year. We also now know how to change it moving forward so we can maintain the trans.
We also changed the air filter, forgot to grab a photo but that was extremely dirty. We are working on changing springs for the first track outing but we know we'll need some coils with some pretty heavy springs to handle the added downforce. We finished the install of the springs and camber plates. It is definitely a more involved process than Japanese cars I'm used to. We continue to work with a few manufacturers on figuring out exactly what we can/want to do for coils. Video for a DIY install is below.

Some call it rice... and I'm not even a track guy but... Even in the mountains It love it. Get some thin red gaffers tape and wrap at 12 o'clock. Makes a big difference in visual point of reference/peripherals when going through turns. |

Always great to see shops document and go into depth on aftermarket products, as first-hand information for potential customers. All this being said, we at Fabspeed would love to collaborate with this build. We have some killer options for the 987.2 that I can assure will outperform the competition.
We would love the opportunity to work together on this build, I will shoot you a PM! We appreciate you reaching out but we aren't extremely interested in power adders at this moment. We want to get the aero, suspension, and cooling all under control before we look for power. When we get to that point; I'll keep you guys in mind. We did an install over the paddle shifter wheel! Overall a very quick and painless install. |
Glad to see your response to limit variables. I'm looking forward to the oil and pdk temp data with a relatively stock car.
