Does anyone know (beyond I think so) whether all 987's are CA emission compliant?

THIS close to buying a 987.1 and having it shipped to CA. And the final hurdle is the CA emissions. Unfortunately, the sticker wasn't found/looked-at during the PPI. So it needs a secondary check-and-see. But this won't happen until next week and I'm dying here. I'd love it if someone had a link to a site, ideally Porsche, that definitively says something akin to "All Porsche 987.1's from 2006-20012 are 50 state compliant. I'm not really interested in "I'm pretty sure they are" as I've already read that. A solid on-line resource indicating that there's no chance of a problem would make it so much easier to get through the rest of the weekend. So close ...

Call the dealer and give them the VIN and ask them.

Mmmm. I did, and the person who answered had the opinion that all Porsches of that year met CA emissions standards. If I knew that DMV would take his word for it I'd be very happy indeed!

I can state that my 987.2 came in through the port of NJ, was initially brought in through a dealer in NJ and it does have CA emissions. I did not pay anything extra for this nor did I option it, it was automatically configured this way. I’m 99% certain that any Porsche made for the US from 2009 - 2012 has CA emissions as I don’t believe there are different part numbers for the catalytic converter.

.2 be or not .2 be!

In my case, not .2 be. Looking at a 987.1.

I've had both .1 and .2 (now on 981). Yes, as long as they were US spec cars, they meet CA emission standards. Awkwardly, Porsche puts the sticker that DMV will want to see under the engine cover so you should be prepared to remove it at the DMV inspection.

I registered my 996 here in CA as soon as it rolled off the truck from the seller in NC. The DMV guy did a 5 second walk around and that was it. Didn’t even ask me to pop the “hood”.

That is SO not going to happen for me, sadly. Bringing it to AAA and they've been very clear they need to eyeball it.

My smog shop lifted the rear hatch and didn't see the sticker so they asked me about it. Rather than accessing the engine I believe they just looked for the CA compliant catalytic converters and called it good.

US Spec cars are Ca emission compliant. I went through this when I bought my 987 several years ago you have to have it smogged then make an appt at DMV for them to visually look at the car. This is where they want to see the sticker which is located under the deck lid. Just be sure you have this area ready to look at when you go there.

I just smogged my 987.1 and it passed with flying colors (I'm in SoCal).
