Question about replacing Multi Func Steering Wheel with Sport
So I'm wanting to retrofit the steering wheel in my '15 Cayman GTS but I'm getting conflicting information.
Currently the factory installed wheel is the Multi Function Steering wheel without heat and I want to switch to the Alcantara Sport Steering wheel.
My understanding from Suncoast's website is that the replacement steering wheel is supplied with an additional steering column stalk which will control the functions are now controlled by the buttons and wheels on the MFS.
My local dealer says I will lose those functions.
Has anyone done this? What was retained and what was lost.
Also side note, is the Alcantara steering wheel available with carmine red stitching to match rest of the interior?

Don't suppose you got any feedback to this? I'm considering the same thing and don't understand why the wheel costs more if my existing wheel is heated since I'm going to lose that function anyway and dealer coding is required in addition to the extra cost. It seems to me that the sport wheel is the sport wheel, period, but maybe there are multiple variations, some of which won't fit a car that had a heated non-MF? Weird.

I figured a bit out. I actually had non-MF but with heat from the factory (with the ****ty buttons). I bought and installed a sport design wheel with no heat (and also no MF). The heater connector is just empty in the housing now, and there are no codes and all works fine. Makes me wonder what Suncoast is charging an extra $500 for to go from non-MF heated to non-MF unheated, since that's what I did with just the normal 981/991 SD wheel...
For switching from MF to non, I read that you need a new column stalk/clock spring because the cars equipped with MF from the factory have different or less stalks on the column. You will need coding for that. If coded, you should lose no functions.
