So on the 914 you open the lid, unclip the latches, take off the cover, replace the filter, replace the cover, close the latches, close the lid.

On most cars there is a variation of this.

@ algiorda - why are the two studs that hold on your carpet support plastic different?

Looks like it's a pain on the Evora: https://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f41...cement-244089/
Looks like it's a bit of a pain on the Alfa 4C: https://www.4c-forums.com/16-engine-...r-install.html
Looks like a pain on the Elise/Exige: https://howtune.com/articles/313-rep...us-elise-exige
Looks very easy on the R8:

I admit, it would be nice if they had a clam shell design like this:

But it is a VERY easy DIY job on the 981 (at least on the Boxster - I haven't done it on a Cayman)

It takes me 5 minutes to tuck the damn carpet under the rubber seal, but then again I don't have a cool purple socket holder. :P

LOL - It's actually blue, I don't know why my iPhone renders it Purple. It's a Kobalt kit. Ask your parents to buy you one!

I broke one of them and judging by this picture, someone else had the same issue You can see in the middle top of the image two screws on each side. One is original in black the other one is white and is replaced. That is pretty much the main tricky part. Also when pulling out the filters, it helps to use a thick rope instead of using your fingers.

Not too bad once you're in there.
