Default Yay! My first Porsche!

Just picked up my first Porsche on Thursday and i couldn't be happier! 2014 CS with only 11k miles and CPO until next year according to dealer. This car replaced an M2 as my toy car, so It's going to see some track days soon 😁

Great spec! Keen to hear your thoughts comparing it with the M2.

i've only put about 150 mostly highway and in-town miles on it since the previous owner didn't do the 10k mile service. bringing it in tomorrow for service, then will try to put in more miles over the next couple weeks. my local mountain roads are probably full of debris from the recent rains, so i'll probably wait a while before i rip around up there. however, here's what i noticed so far:

1. the cayman sounds much better. i don't have the PSE, but the NA motor just sounds so good. that's not to say the N55 in the M2 sounds bad...its one of the best sounding modern mass-produced turbo engines; that's just how good i think the cayman sounds
2. the cayman corners differently than the m2. it feels flatter and changes directions faster. it feels like the cayman pirouettes around a corner whereas the m2 sweeps around. the rotation in my old MR2 didn't feel that pronounced probably because of the lighter engine, but the go-kart feeling is very similar.
3. the m2 is faster around town and on the freeways. this comes from the beefier torque curve of the turbo. the newer m2 comp should be even faster.
4. the m2 cup holders are significantly better! in fact, the interior of the m2 is just a nicer place to be. even when comparing the latest 718 gts w/ my pre-lci 2017 m2, i'd rather be sitting in the m2 as a passenger. the UI of the infotainment system in the bmw is also leagues better than the one in the cayman.

i'll need to get on track to compare my track times, but i can feel myself being faster in the cayman already. so far, my takeaway is that the m2 is the better all-around car but the cayman is the better sports car. i have an m3 cs now for my 7 month old, so i don't need two well-rounded cars. i've also thought about trying both the m3 and cayman on the same day at my home track (auto club) since it's only minutes from my house and i can easily run home and swap cars between sessions haha

here are some pics of the m2. i do miss the car, but the replacement seems to have much more potential for fun

I like those Sport Techno wheels...
The M2 looks way more complicated inside!

A friend has a 1M and we're often comparing too, so interested in reading your observations.

I dressed up the interior of the m2 a bit with the electronic wheel and air vent delete to add the multifunction display. The m2 doesn't have an oil temp or pressure display, so i had to add one. The center screen with the hp and torque gauges are a bit gimmicky, but in videos they helped show throttle application. Normally that's the nav screen and radio. Newer models (2018+) have a touch screen but also still retain all the buttons. The 8 preset buttons are nice since you can program them to do anything, not just radio presets. Since certain displays were buried deep in menus, i made 1 go to the tpms display, 2 went to sport gauges, 3 was trip info, 4 called the wife and i forget what the rest were. I think bmw strikes a good balance between being too sparse like the Cayman and overly complicated like a benz.

But I think that's why i like the Cayman more. It's more direct in its mission, without frills and extras where the driving experience brings pleasure instead of the tech.

Beauty car. I think white shows off the lines on that series of Cayman particularly well. Enjoy!

Congrats, and great taste! Love the color, wheels, and 6MT with PTV. The M3 CS is very nice too, and much agreed on the electronics in the F80/F87 being superior to Porsche. Hopefully the mid engine balance and flat 6 soundtrack are enough to make that not matter. Enjoy!

Who's LRG M3 CS is that? I have one as well! Coincidentally, I'm searching for a white 981 CS! What dealer and do they have any more

EDIT: just read that the LRG M3 CS is yours! You obviously have impeccable taste! Are you on bimmerpost?
