DIY serpentine belt
Getting the 2009 Boxster ready for a Mar 9-10 DE at Summit Point. Just replaced serpentine belt. As with any project had to buy a new tool: 30mm socket for the tensioner release. Thought I had one but it was a 32mm. Suprised that Lowe's actually had a Kobalt brand socket that was cheaper than the auto parts stores. Belt I removed looks brand new and is Porsche OEM. I don't remember having the dealer replace but good DIY practice. Now I have a really good spare. Garage is about 48 degrees and was worried about being cold. That quickly changed to removing my hat and coat. Had a routing diagram and took pictures as a back up. Not much room to get belt out and back around the main crank. Used a long screwdriver to push on to the pulley. Took several tries with help from a screwdriver to get the belt over the final alternator pulley while pushing on the tensioner release. Next is the air filter. Carpet is already out for the belt replacement.
