Default My Belated official 981 intro

hi all i'm a veteran poster from 993 world, being on my second targa of that vintage.
well late last year i got pulled kicking and screaming into the 21st century via my 2016 BGTS and there's no lookin back!
after a dozen days running a 991.2 gts through parts of europe i got the bug to get into this new fangled water cooled thing.
figuring the modern 911 is jailbait for me in the states and yeah a bit pricey, i turned to the boxster and felt the gts package fit the bill nicely. so happy with the decision. the 6 NA is really a blast, as mentioned here often.
i've lurked a bit here to get a feel for things and RL guys always help thanks!
she's triple black (jet metallic) with leather 'sofas' and a 95k sticker. it's a cpo with 20k clearly gentle miles. we did a fly n drive from ny to nc and back on some great US highway runs too.
to justify the whole thing i hatched a scheme to snowbird with my SO and needed a new reliable ride so i covered the front half with trac wrap, we stuffed two months of packing into both boots and ripped down 95 to just beat the vortex a few weeks ago.
much fun! i'll load up a few pics shortly. i'm not really a black car guy but it matched the 991 we had enjoyed greatly and i think black or similar dark tone enhances the boxster lines a great deal.

I've got great news for you. That Boxster will get you jail time almost as easily as that 911 for not much less money.

Congrats on the purchase, though. Real nice.

lol your spider sense is on the money. my only recourse is that it can sound great at legalish speeds too.

Congrats! I'm sure like many others, I'd like to own a 993 at some point to check the air-cooled Porsche box. I've only driven one on a short test drive while sitting in traffic, and that obviously wasn't ideal for it but it had enough modern amenities to be comfortable, yet still exhibit an old-school sports car experience.

Not if he drives at night with the lights off. That thing looks mean.

Did I understand that you packed for two people for two months in a Boxster? A Cayman I could maybe understand, but a Boxster??

You gotta love the two-boot advantage of the Boxster over the 911, but always wondered if storage space in the back seat of a 911 is roughly equal to, greater than, or less than that in the rear boot of a Boxster. If you're going on a road trip, would you say the 981 holds more than your 993, less, or about the same?

Enjoy all that mid-engine goodness

yups.. one sweater each no jackets or suits and just summer stuff. its florida.
pack for a 10 day trip, roll your duds up tightly in duffels, wash and wear, and pick up anything else needed while down there.
easy peasy.

thanks man. i think the 981 holds at least as much, but more efficiently as you wont have it on top of you in a back seat blocking the view.
theres also under appreciated room down behind the boxster seats for certain items.

other details of note are PDK, X73, matching body color console and wheels.
the jet black has a nice flake with just a hint of blue i think.
no PDLS but the hids are strong and as a rule i keep them on 24/7.
