Meh, go for it. Cheaper than buying a different car. I dropped more than that on X73 and FVD exhaust and you can’t see either of them. (But you can feel them/hear them.)
But you can feel and hear them for sure! My car has the PASM and I retrofitted the PSE so I'm covered in those departments.
My trusted source (an active Porsche tech) told me the job's posted standard labor time is 7.3 hours and it's pretty involved. It doesn't look like I will find much lower price....

The dealer is having a hard time to determine the correct parts. Because they had agreed to match the price by the online supplier, I decided to buy the parts from them. I think it's 981-552-101-20-A11 for the dash (black w/o Sport Chrono) and 981-552-021-00-A11 for the cowl but am not 100% sure. Especially the cowl (the parts catalog calls it "instrument box") is a mystery because the catalog doesn't say "leather" anywhere. So I asked the dealer to make sure these were the correct parts and they are struggling. I told them to call Porsche on Monday and ask them.

Thanks for your input but I'm confused. All upper dashes listed on the parts catalog, leather or not, start with "981". I'm certain some of those are plastic dash. Doesn't "981" in this instance indicate the part is for the 981 models? It looks like 981 552 101 20 A11 is black leather without Sport Chrono and 981 552 101 22 A11 is with Sport Chrono.
If the cowl is only offered one way (leather?), where will one find the plastic cowl like the one that my car currently has?
This dealer is a small VW/Audi/Porsche dealership. I suspect their parts dept is not dedicated to Porsche parts.

I can’t help with the parts but when you do have the dealer install the parts you should ask if they can weigh some of the larger pieces of both and compare them. It would be great to have a secondary comparison of this......yeah I’m being selfish on this one but these swaps don’t happen every day.

When I searched some of the parts numbers in GetPorscheParts.com website, the slush technology (= plastic) 981 552 101 11 DK4 came out as "black, w/ leather, w/o Chrono pkg". Now seeing "980" in the model column, it could be leather. In the meantime, 981 552 101 20 A11 was described as "black, w/ leather, w/o Sport pkg" on the same website. I wasn't aware that a Sport Package was offered for the 981 Boxsters. What's the difference between I980 (Leather Package) and I981 (Leather Equipment, without Seat Covers)? Which one applies to my case?
As for the cowl/instrument box, all of them in this category are under I980/981 (Leather Pkg/Leather Equipment) meaning they must be leather.

I will see what I can do. Since I will keep the original dash and cowl, weighing those will be no problem. If I have the new parts directly shipped to the dealer (this will be the case if I order the parts from them), I will have to ask the dealer to weigh them or to bring a scale with me in case the dealer doesn't have a scale.
When the time comes you will have to remind me because I may very well forget.
Since they happened to be in the U.S. (only one of each is here), I will get them fairly soon. I will have to store them until the car comes out of the hibernation in April. This means I will get to weigh them before they are installed.
As I was appreciating this photo of Suicide Jockey's gorgeous leather dash, I realized that I would need a few more leather bits than just the dash and cowl. They are the center cover and the defroster trims. I'll tell the dealer tomorrow to add these parts to my order. Now this is what my parts list looks like:
