The 987.2 Spyder was already rare based on extreme low production numbers... but people doing modifications like this make the originals even more rare! (Slaps forehead in shame). Ignore the caption... the poster clearly doesn’t know his Spyders.

Many have been totaled, some have major overrev’s from spending time at the track and then you have this......I’ll stop short and not comment on others sense of taste.

But you’re right Donovan, finding a nice example is getting more difficult and with so few built and even fewer built with the lightweight options they will eventually start climbing in value. The biggest issue will be a buyers justification over other cars priced similarly but honestly after driving 997.2 S and other cars of this era I still come away preferring the Spyder.

Ugly as a mud fence, and about as practical.

I am wondering if the photo is photoshopped. The wing struts don't look centered. Also the author, #boxsterspyder, calls it a 2016. I think it is s joke.

I can't get out of my head the sound of someone drilling into the rear lid to mount that abomination. Haunting.

I'd be curious to get this chap out on the next So Cal Spyder drive, take a DNA swab from his discarded Starbucks cup, and then put it in a petri dish and see what the hell grows.

After thinking about this more... I want to apologize. I have to remember everyone has different tastes and opinions. I respect that. One persons trash is another’s treasure. I don’t want to be that online bully!

It's just so ironic that Haynes Manual can't properly identify the model and specs of the Spyder in question.. Glad we have Porsche repair manuals as an alternative
