My 2008 2.7 with 113,000 mies is rock steady.

Thank you all, I will have my mechanic look over and see what he says. BTW, the spark plugs were done 10k ago and the coils are intact as well. Just looked at it more accurately and in normal mode we are talking about gauge needle shaking of about 60-70 RPM (approximately between 680-750). In Sports mode, the gauge needle goes up to 800 RPM and from here it swings between right on the line of 800 RPM to pretty much the thickness of the gauge needle above the line and back. I know it dosen't sound dramatic but the engine is pretty shaky. Since there is also quite a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust + my over average mpg, I agree with many here and assume that there is some dirt which needs to be take care of. As mentioned earlier, I think the former owner had the car as a DD and drove lots of short distance trips. Anyway, I will see what my mechanic says and will report back.

2010 base 987.2 and I am rock steady at 700 rpm with the exception of some bad gas about a year ago.
