Default 987.2 Spyder

Greetings from the Texas Hill Country! First post and Porsche!

Followed these cars when they were released and have always loved the lines; epic design IMHO. Recently got the itch and started the hunt which included reading all Rennlist Spyder posts back to release.

Since there never seems to be more than a handful for sale at any one time tried to keep my requirements to a minimum. My must haves included white, buckets, PDK, SC, PSE, spyder wheels, radio, and ac. The sport wheel was highly desired.

This one came out of the NW had all of above with full leather and some other stuff. Just finished 2500 mile road trip back to TX.

All the comments and reviews about this car were spot on...I have never driven anything that is so sublime and entertaining! By comparison it shares the garage with my C7 Z06 w/Z07 M7.

To this day when I think of what a perfect sports car should be the Spyder is the first thing that pops into my head. When it comes to entertaining the senses it excels and does so without fuss. I’m still enamored with the car after nearly 8 years of ownership.

Congrats on your new Spyder, enjoy in good health!

Oh and post up some more pics and impressions when you get the chance.

Very nice find - congrats and welcome to the Spyder world!

I agree with all the above - it is Porsche's best-kept secret. It's a light, nicely powered, pure sports car that is so fun (as you now know!) to drive.

I was speaking sometime back this summer at an early am meet-up about the incoming 991.2 Speedster. A comment was made by a local that owns every possible Porsche you can imagine about how the Speedster defied that true combination of elements of a sports car. He pointed at my 987.2 Spyder and said: "like your car".

Congrats again and enjoy...

Congratulations, I have had mine for about 7 years an 40,000 plus fun miles . Made some “ enhancements” over the year and the bottom line a great handling fun car that is a keeper

Somewhere in IDAHO

19 degrees out

Thanks for the kind welcome. Here are some gratuitous road trip pics...Seattle, Boise, SLC, Durango, Taos, Clovis.

Just wait until you take the rear part of the top off and cruise with just the sun cover on... you’ll be ruined for life. Welcome to the club, I have an almost identical car, you are gonna love it!

Default LWB review

The forum convinced me that the buckets are an essential option and I biased my search to find one so equipped. I will admit that I was concerned if I’d make it back from Seattle in these seats since I’m not what you’d call athletic.

Happily I knew I’d be ok as soon as I sat in the seat. Now have about 2700 miles in the last 8 days...no issues at all. I’d almost go as far as saying they are refreshing and love the upright seating position.

Of course they are wonderfull looking!

I love the list of features on your car, looks like you got one in good shape. Every once in a while I drift into contemplating some enhancement or another, then I go for a drive and realize the car is right next to perfect as it is. But then I'm a long ways from a road course. :-(, which is wonderful for my checkbook.
re volcano, I was on a sailboat up by protection Island when she blew, shook the mast and sounded like I was close to a bombing range. I think they used to make runs up there someplace, could be wrong.

Congratulations on your new to you Spyder. Mine is very similar to your's except black wheels, no leather, and manual transmission. I have under 7500 miles on mine. How many on yours?

Thank you! Car was sold, serviced, and eventually CPO’d to the 2nd owner in Apr 2018 by Porsche of St Louis. 2nd owner was a doc in Seattle and wasn’t working for him/his young family. This car came with 34 pages of Porsche service history and remaining CPO till Apr 2020. I’d consider it driver mileage at 29k when I picked it up, but in fabulous shape.

Full leather is a nice bonus, it was very rarely optioned on Spyders and even more rare in black.
