Default Sunday drives to "nowhere" and is there an app for that?

As many of you do, I like going on drives either solo or with a group just to enjoy the car and the scenery. No destination in mind... just go where the road (and least amount of traffic) takes me. I'm looking for a good app (preferably one for Android) that can provide me feedback on some of my drives. An app that provides a map of where I traveled for the trip and maybe some other data would be good. The purpose being when I find a good route, I'd love to be able to save it for later so that I can take it again. Sure, I could get out a map and highlight it the old school way, but surely there's an app that does this much better than I ever could.

What are you guys using?

motorcycle roads.com, I guess use this to find the route, enter point A point B into the android and choose no tolls, no highways and see if it matches, if yes that you'll have your drive.

I downloaded the app but nothing happens when I try to start a new route. It just starts the timer but no map shows up. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? When you drive a preplanned route does the app show you where you are on the route?

I only use the app's Explore function to look at nearby routes used by other Porsche drivers, it is not used as a GPS or navigation. The Drive feature is for you to record your route and share it to the Porsche community.

For planning rides there's nothing better than a traditional map or at least Mapquest on a large monitor. You need to be able to get both a wide view and then zoom in on details. Depending on how far off the beaten path you go, you may not have cell service. For the NC mountains, I use a dedicated Garmin with Routeplanner with a backup map.

I know that there are some GPS/navigation units that record and can display taken routes on maps. I know some off-roaders use them--but that's all I know about them.

Default Sunday drives

are you able to record your drives on this app. All it does for me is start the timer. It’s easy to follow the drives that are recorded, but it would be nice to record some new drives for the rest of the community

Yes, I was not looking for an app to help me map out a drive, I was looking more for an app where I can press start and go on a drive wherever the road takes me and then have it record my route on a map form so that I could review it later. If it gave me the distance traveled and the average speed all the better. That way I could find a drive that I really like and have it saved, then go recreate the drive at a later date if I wanted to. There's got to be an app that does this.

How do you get the drive feature to record the route? All it does for me is start the timer.
