You are looking for suede? If so just buy a wheel from Porsche or a used one on this forum. Otherwise you may not be happy with the results. There are vendors that are better than others out there. I would say DIY is not the best bet

Can't speak for OEM Alcantara but the I'm disappointed in the durability of the OEM leather on my Sport Steering wheel. I'm sure there are excellent aftermarket leather shops around that can do Alcantara, but that would require some good research and good references. I'm considering making a warranty claim on my leather OEM wheel. It's that bad.
I found the leather very inconsistent across my Porsches. In my Spyder its great, Cayman was okay, but in the 911 it was awful. Like holding cold marble. No grip at all.
Regular cleaning is a must for the steering wheel and shift ****. Leatherique prestine Clean is a great product for cleaning and conditioning these surfaces.
Exclusive Option, a specialty automotive design company, has many options for those who wish to have their steering wheels redone in leather or Alcantara. Factory steering wheels can be restored to factory specifications featuring genuine Alcantara and/or Leather with deviated stitching.
There is an option to add a 12'o clock marker for those who are interested.
