What are your long term plan with your 981?

I couldnt agree more. I plan on keeping mine and I’m in at sticker for the 718. Only if it’s NA. If not and nothing else grabs my eye I’ll hang on for a few more years.

I have no intention of ever selling my 981 Spyder unless I have to for some reason.

2015 Boxster GTS. Fairly light on options, e.g. basic "4 way" seats, etc., and I row my own. I suppose one day if my knee arthritis gets to the point where I can't work a clutch pedal comfortably, I'd consider giving it to my son. Maybe by then, dual clutch transmissions will have the bugs worked out of them (If you think PDK has problems, just be glad you don't have a Ford with a dual clutch tranny) and I could go that route.
It's everything I want and ticks all the checkboxes: Classic convertible sports car that manages to make me feel like a much better driver than I am and, as the old Boxster ad used to proclaim "The perfect car for a family of 5." No plans on tracking, so works for me.
As for major repair bills, I suppose if something happened to the engine I'd consider doing a 3.8L engine swap and get the thrill of a Spyder w/o the cool factor of a manual roof, sculpted tonneau and fabric door pulls. Haven't heard of Porsche MT failures/issues.

Keeping mine... I think. It is just so good on consumables as a track car -- it's been a dream.
Now, if I am smart, I should pick up a low mileage engine while they are cheap before the inevitable inflation. Sooner or later the engines will become scarce. I've seen a number of the low mileage 2.7 liter units under 4k. Right now that's Chevy small block territory -- won't be so lucky in 10-15 years.

Also in the large camp on here that plans on keeping it indefinitely. 981S is tough to beat for value now that they're only $40k-$60k generally. Great motor in a great chassis, especially with stage 2 cobb and headers. A little worried about PDK indefinitely, but I'll replace it if it breaks.

I plan on keeping my 14 BS. When I need more room we take the Cayenne TT. Love the power and the Ceramic brakes. Drives amazing with PDCC and PTV however the really fun is in the Boxster.

Have my eye on the 982 Spyder. If it isn't exactly what I hope it'll be (NA, 6MT, GT4 footwork etc), I'll send my 981 GTS straight to BGB for a 4.0 and keep it for the remainder of my days above ground.
