I agree. But again maybe I'm biased . That silver BGTS looks great.

If I could I would have a 981 CS, CGTS, BS, and BGTS in every color. No I’m not kidding. They are amazing cars, IMO. Size is just right, plenty of luggage space, mid-engine handling balance, 3,150 lbs loaded with all the fancy options and a full tank of gas.

Ditto. But we're biased. We're at risk of high jacking this thread.

P.s. Personally I love the 981 front end in the Spyder especially. But the 718 is nice too. Hmmm

you have to be a Porsche owner or sells one for a living to notice the difference. - Top Gear

I prefer the 718 just a notch over the 981. But I agree about the front bumper though.

No doubt, the anodyne flat-faced 718 is to my eyes less distinctive (not to mention the black bar across the rear). But, to each his own.

I personally prefer the 981's softer sensual lines over the 718's more severe sharper surfacing, but the 718 GTS is growing on me. The one design aspect of the 718 that I find most objectionable is actually the headlight shape because it changes the "face" or character of the car. The 981 headlight lenses peak toward the center of the headlight housing (which seems more graceful and natural to me).

But the 718 headlights peak further outboard (pinched in the top corners), which almost makes the car take on a Disney Pixar Cars facial expression.

The 718 is what you would get if Porsche handed a 981 to a group of Lexus engineers and said ‘tweak it for the Asian markets’.

I personally do not like the upside down V shaped center grill on any Porsche - they look too similar to Ferrari. I like the original V Shape center grill. That said, if I won a 718 in the Porsche raffle, I'd be delighted.

Sound.....that's a completely different subject, I'm partial to the sound of the flat six.

Haha, that reminds me--the 981 is due for another hand wash and wax.

Wouldn't it be more fair to some of you if you compare between a stock front 981 vs stock 718, instead of comparing using a 981 GTS ? Of course, the 981 GTS front looks nicer than the base 718 or 718S (without the sports package).

If That's the case, I prefer the look of the 718 GTS models than the 981 with No Sports package bodykit, especially 981 Cayman . However, stock 981 Boxster bumper is 50/50 with the 718 stock bumpers for me But Definitely better than 981 Cayman's. The 981 GTS rear diffuser is very Eh compare to the 718 GTS rear diffuser, Especially painted In exterior colours.

This may be just me but I think the 718's shape of the headlights and the bumper makes the car look like a Panamera. Sometimes, when a 718 pulls in head first, I have to count the number of the doors to tell them apart. As to the rear, I think the 981's is the worst among all the Boxster generations. The high position of the tail lights and the relatively blank and vast rear bumper make the car look like a Camry when you look at it dead straight from rear. I "fixed" it by relocating the badges from the trunk deck to the rear bumper and adding the Spyder ducktail spoiler to make it look like more like the Spyder/GT4 who's rear looks much better than that of the Base/S 981 in my opinion.

I prefer the lines of the 987 over both the 981 and 718. It has more supple curves and is truer to the original 550 which I see as Porsche’s ultimate roadster.

Other than that that 718 is a better car than the 981, both visually and performance wise.

The fender humps are the most pronounced on the 986, followed by 987, and they're almost gone on the 981/718...
