987.2 Sound System Upgrade
Have any of you upgraded the standard sound system in your 987.2? I want to keep the stock headset, but the standard speakers suck. I'm sure it would benefit from at least upgraded speakers, possibly also an amplifier and crossover, without sacrificing stock appearance. Is the Bose option retrofitable?

I haven't replaced my speakers so I'm not an expert here. That said, I recently replaced one of my rear storage boxes and in the process had to remove the rear speaker/suspension cover bracket. The Bose speaker is very small and looks like it could easily be replaced. It's only about a 3" speaker and you would have to keep it at 3" diameter but there is room for a larger magnet and deeper speaker.

I refitted my 987 Spyder with an aftermarket system: sound plus system sucks, as well as bose from sound quality perspective.
pioneer app radio (connectivity, navigation via iphone)
rear view camera
Blam! 3 way speakers replacing the 20 cm, 10 cm and tweeters with a 16,5 woofer, 10 cm midtone and tweeters. Huge benefit is the 3 OHM impendence drawing just a bit of extra power from the amp.
all connected to the original amp and 100% reversable.
loving it big time!

It is a 2011 boxster spyder. The head unit will be out of sale by now i guess.
have a professional car audio shop make you an offer, that will be your best option.
