Default 08 Cayman S engine w/ spun bearing

I'm 99% sure that I spun a rod bearing at a recent DE at Pocono. The oil filter is COMPLETELY filled with bronze and silver particles along with a slight tapping sound.

I am debating what option to pursue: strip down the engine and rebuild it (worries about the condition of the crank or any other damage), buy a used engine (no clue of what I'm getting in terms of its condition), or buy a remanufactured engine (what I'm leaning towards).

I can have my engine sent off and have it bored and sleeved to a 3.6L, then built up. Or have it bored to a 3.8L!

My engine has the 82mm throttle and IDP plenum along with a cat-back exhaust, so I'm confident that air isn't an issue.
My question...
Going to a 3.6 should just drop in and fire up without any ECU or fuel injector changes, BUT, what about a 3.8L?

Anyone done this or have insight into how it would work out.

Thanks
