Lug nut bolt renovation
I thought it was time to say goodbye to the rusty lug nuts and clean them up.
Here is the before and after. 12 years & 150k miles will do that-
Next will be the calipers (in red) and rotor hat (VHT 117 aluminum) and adding the Brembo decals.

Nice job!
Which is the material of the standard lug bolts?
To paint them do you need to go for primer + paint or is it straightforward job with only one spray can?
Is it required to sandpaper them?

Looks good! Little details make all the difference.
Did you paint them or replace them?
If you painted them, be mindful of metal socket flaking it off. Especially since the paint can make these slightly larger than a perfect 19mm. I'm sure you'll be careful, but any shops might not be.
I didn't realize that was an actual thing! Just something I've always done though.

Huge improvement!
I’m also curious on the steps used to restore the bolts.
Are you going to tackle the calipers yourself or remove them and have them powder coated?

This is what I did. Your results, procedure and products may be different.
I spent $20 (2 cans, $10 each), household vinegar and table salt. I took my time slowly for 1 week. You may want to do it quicker. Rubber gloves, eye protection.
I Soaked the heads in a 50/50 solution of vinegar, water and 2 Oz. of table salt.
Scrubbed with a brass brush several times.
My total soak was about 6 hours and scrubbed 2 times.
Wash with warm dawn liquid soap solution.
Rinse with distilled water to neutralize.
Let air dry for 24 hours.
I sprayed 3 coats of VHT brand high heat, 117 aluminum ($10). I sprayed the first light coat, then second and third light coats. (Keeping in mind thickness of the 19mm)
Sun baked outside for about 10 hours (90 degree day).
Spray clear coat first light coat, second and third.
Sun bake for 10 hours (90 degree day).
19mm socket; Frog painters tape. 6 single strips inside, 1 strip on outside wrapped around .
Hand screw in, torque wrench tighten gently to 96 ft Lbs.

High level of dedication right there!
My coined phrase is #DrivenNotDetailed; if I'm not driving it, I'm probably turning wrenches on it. But fully respect for all the little details to achieve perfection.
Hope to see you at C&O or some of the other local gatherings.
