Charles, what do you recommend for people that store their cars for long period of time? Some of the old school mechanics recommend either storing the car completely dry OR filling the tank full of gas with a fuel stabilizers. Your thoughts?

Fresh oil as well in the engine before hibernation.

Driving every 1-2 weeks should be enough during the winter, right?

How many of the 12k miles btw the two oil changes were track miles and in what run group?
What were the reasons behind the string of coil pack replacements?
Could timing changes introduced by the after-market tune in combination with the existing (undiagnosed) coil pack problem contributed to the failure?
Good luck with the resolution. I’d go with a used, low mile oem 981 3.4L, then keep it stock and change the oil more often, especially if tracked.

On catted cars, the coil pack failure has been a large issue for us due to all of the head in that area as well as Porsche not installing heat shields from the factory ( like on the 911 model ) . We change coils every 10 hour of use on our race GT4s in order to prevent failures on track.

We change our oil every track weekend on our track / race cars. You have to consider oil changes as a cheap insurance policy. It will allow you to take a good look at whats going on in the motor prior to it becoming a large problem for a minimal cost of an oil service.
