2005 987.1 with 987.2 Engine
EDIT: Title should have read 2005 Boxster with engine from 2006 Boxster (I believe 987.2 is from 2009+). My bad
Hi guys, first of all, great forum and community! I've been itching for a Porsche for a while now (on the back of some amazing Turo sessions),
I came across a deal for a ~$10K for 120K mile 2005 Boxster, with a replacement engine from an 06 boxster (engine had 25k miles when it was put into the 120K mile boxster, owner drove it maybe ~500 miles). Also a recent clutch replacement. Neither installs done by Porsche Certified dealer
Clean carfax, seller seems like a gem of a guy and I am going to get a dealership PPI. Car will be a weekend toy for mountain twisties, i normally dont rev past 6k
Wanted to get the collective wisdom of you experts The price is attractive, but im not sure about the engine install done by non-porsche dealer...As well, even though the engine is relatively new, worried about rest of car @ 120K
- What are some of the key watchouts I should be looking out for with the model at this milage (ie water pumps, any kind of leaks etc)
- What is the typical scheduled maintenance schedule for at car at 120K miles?
- Also, lets say I want to sell this car in a few years, do you think I'd face issues since the engine wasnt part of the original car?
Thank you!
