Default Replacement speaker suggestions for 987 Boxster

I'm looking to replace the 8" woofers in the doors of a 2005 Boxster. Not a lot of depth, I purchased a pair of Rockford Fostgate P3SD48 P3 Punch Shallow mount 8-Inch DVC 4-Ohm Subwoofer but they were too big. Looks like I have about 2.5" of depth to work with. Appreciate any suggestions.

in which direction where those subs you bought too large? how much too large are they? looking for details as I'm about to embark down this same road. I've read that fitting a shallow mount 8" sub in the doors requires some small sheet metal cutting to fit.

8" subs were too deep by about 3/8", it was bumping the power window regulator/frame. I was tempted to push it and start cutting and modifying the door opening and speaker but decided to return them and put the stock speakers back in. The car is a track/autocross toy so the audio doesn't need to be great, but need something to listen too on the way to the track. I'm going to call crutchfield to get their advice. I had to replace the stock amp as it was not there when I bought the car and replaced the mids in the door and tweeters in the dash.

Can't recall if it was a video or an article but I've heard mention of a gent adding the 8" shallow subs, he added an MDF Speaker Ring to his install. Thanks for the detail
