New member planning a 987.2 S purchase
Hi,I’m planning to purchase a 987.2 S next summer. The delay is due to the fact that by waiting I should be able to pay cash at that point. I looked at the predominant car pricing guides and they suggest that the average price for a minimally optioned 2009 S model is currently $21k. I looked on autotrader and the cheapest were in the $25k price range with around 70k miles. Is my pricing off-base?
I’m currently on a 4 month assignment to the Stuttgart area. Plan to go to Porscheplatz 1 to see the museum again for the third time. I totally missed the 70th celebration though. Bummer. Anyway, I’ll be reading a lot and probably will have a question or two along the way.
Jason
(P.S. if I save for another year, it's possible I'd have the funds for a 981 S...But that's a long time!)

A clean, no story 987.2 S at $21k usd is a pipe dream. Even a 987.2 base at that price is very unlikely unless over 100k miles or it has an accident history.
Base 987.2 around 50k miles can be had for $25-27k and 987.2 S really starts closer to $30k even with ~50k miles. If you can find anything cheaper than that that isn’t a basket case car, get a PPI and jump on it.

Paid $34k for a very clean 987.2 Boxster with 44K miles two years ago. I felt like that was on the high end, but it was the car I wanted. It's sometimes hard to determine a good price since these cars are so rare in any given geographical area, and you can't really compare different areas directly.

Prices can vary quite a lot with paint conditions, interior wear, options and accident history...? These are not 3-4 year old cars.

Definitely looking at >$30k for a 987.2. They’re hard to come by as well due to limited production numbers, so finding a good one could take some time. Good luck!

good post! I also looked into the 987...and found that a 6-8k more can get me into a 981! I recently test drove a 981 base pdk...it was smooth, however a manual makes it feel like a sports car! Good luck with your search! I am still looking (daily!)

@ travel4life; Good luck with the search. A 981 is looking like a very high probability for me. As you have mentioned, 6-8k more for a more modern one with better styling is worth the extra amount.
Any conjecture regarding what a lightly optioned 2013 Boxster S will cost this time next year? If they're in the low 30's, I'll be in the market!
