GT4 Wheels on a 981 Spyder... Fitment ok?
Im considering putting black GT4 wheels on my Spyder with Platinum wheels and wanted to reach out to the collective brain trust to see whether:
1. The slightly wider rear setup would pose rubbing or interference issues and
2. The center caps from a set of black Spyder wheels would fit the GT4 wheels since the GT4 wheels have a GT4 logo on them.

Let's see. The Spyder wheels specs are: 8.5 x 20 ET57 (F) and 10.5 x 20 ET47 (R). On the other hand, the GT4 wheels are: 8.5 x 20 ET61 (F) and 11 x 20 ET50 (R).
The GT4 front wheel will be 4mm closer to the brake/suspension due to the greater offset. You need to check if there is enough space there to allow this. If not, this can easily be corrected by adding a 4mm spacer.
The rear is a bit more involved. The greater offset will bring the wheel in by 3mm but the additional width (0.5" = 12.25mm) will add 6.125mm to both the inside and out. This means the GT4 wheel will stick out by 3.125mm (6.125mm - offset) than the Spyder wheel while it will be closer to the brake/suspension by 9.125mm (6.125mm + offset). Again, you need to check if there is enough space in there to allow this. Unlike the front, you may not want to add a spacer in the rear because it will make the wheel stick out too much.
For a reference, I swapped the 9.5 x 20 ET45 rears with 10 x 20 ET50's with no spacer on my 981 BS. This added 11.125mm to the inside and 1.125mm to the outside, but caused no issues at all. If you can find someone with a GT4 to allow this, test fitting the GT4 wheel/tire combo will be ideal.

I know I've mentioned in another thread (where you've asked) to you on at least one occasion that they will fit with zero issue. My BBS are spec'd in exact GT4 offsets and rim width with same size rubber.
Zero issue.
Zero issue.

I'm just trying to be abundantly cautious here in order to avoid paying for and shipping 4 expensive wheels across the country only to find out that they either 1. do not fit and rub or otherwise, or 2. require spacers or other adjustments that I do not want. I want simple bolt on's with the GT4 295's or I'll stick with the setup I have, which I do not dislike.
The GT4 wheel spokes actually resemble a spider web pattern to me and I think they'll look absolutely sinister on my car with the PCCBs and yellow calipers. We shall see.

Thank you. Yes. I did see your response to a similar inquiry of mine in (I think) the GT4 forum. And I appreciate the feedback.

Look darn good too!
What color are you considering going with?

So I think I sourced a set from a fellow Rennlister and I'm wondering what the weight and dimensions would be for a set of GT4 wheels with tires so I can estimate shipping.
And suggestions on how to cost effectively ship a set of wheels and tires?

Weight of each wheel/tire will be about 50 lbs and dims will be approx. 30" x 30" x tire width. The most cost-effective way to pack them should be as you see in the link below:

Good luck!

Are the center cap dimensions and fitment of a GT4 wheel the same as that of a Boxster Spyder wheel? I'll likely need a set of 4 black center caps to replace the GT4 caps and I'm wondering whether I can simply buy a set of used black ones from any other models' wheels.

Maybe call a dealer (parts dept.) and ask?

From what I see in the many ebays listings the late model stuff is pretty much all the same with a select few exceptions that don’t apply. I think my questions have been answered.
