Default 981 leg room vs 987

In the process of buying a 2014 Cayman Base. Have driven the 2006 Cayman S and found my left leg couldn't stretch no matter what I did with the seat.. Does the 981 have more room under the dash for my poor left leg? I love the car and still have to fly out to the dealer to test fit.

Anyone know if there's more leg room in the 2014 Camyan

6'1" , not too tall. Weighing in at 215 lbs. It's the left side near the wheel well on the 987 that makes it tight. If I move my leg towards the middle I a can stretch but it it's a bit unnatural to have the left leg under the brake pedal. Found a nice 981 but haven't sat it in since it's 300 miles away

The 981 does have more legroom. IIRC they expanded the wheelbase and overall dimensions of the car specifically to improve cabin space for taller drivers.

I'm 6'2 and fit in the 981 fine, the 987 was tight. I drive with seat forward a bit.

There's a 2016 at Jack Daniels you could try.

makes sense. I was thinking taking drive to Paramus to sit in one. I found a nice 2014 base black on black but it’s in Virginia.

I’m 6’4”. 987.1.... too tight. 987.2, they increased the room by a couple inches. Fits fine, but I’m maxed out. 981, way more room. I put my seat forward (buckets) a few clicks.

thanks, that’s helpful. I realized I wasn’t going to be comfortable on a long ride in the 987 so have to up my game and spend a bit more

I have the same build too. I barely fit my 987 Spyder and had to forego the sport bucket seats as they sit you a little higher. I’ve had no problems sitting in any newer model though. I’m looking forward to getting the next gen Spyder for a more comfortable fit.

i meant to say 986-987 added room, not 987.1- 987.2

I'm bringing this thread back to the top before posting a new thread... I'm 6'5" but equally proportioned (34" inseam / normal-ish torso); I fit in my 911's and 951 perfectly but the 987.2 spyder is a tighter squeeze; PDK is probably the only way I'm able to enjoy the car as much as I do. However I often find myself trying to push/sink into the carbon bucket seats...

Before I drive XXX miles to drive an available car, does anyone have good experience moving from 987 to 981 with a similar size situation?
