Tire Sizes - Boxster Spyder Rims vs Carrera Classic
I just bought a set of Cayman R / Boxster Spyder Wheels and will need to buy tires soon.
- My current 19" Carrera Classic Wheels are 8.5" & 9.5" and call for 235/35R 19 & 265/35R 19.
- The new wheels are 9" & 10" but call for the exact same tires as the Carrera Classics, which in my opinion already look a tiny bit narrow for the wheels. Won't the same size tires look even narrower on the new rims which are 1/2 inch wider? I don't want to increase tire size and associated weight but also want it to look good.

In my opinion you can never go wrong with factory sizes. I am running them on my Spyder and I think it looks just fine:
Front
Rear
IF you feel like you want to try something different, I ran 245/35/19 front and 275/35/19 rear (so plus 10mm f+r) on my last Cayman that had these wheels (8.5" front and 10" rear) and it worked great.

I bought a used set of 8.5x20/10x20 Turbo Design wheels that came with the stock 235/35/20 & 265/35/20 P Zeros. The tires looked to be too narrow and the side walls were stretched out. I changed them to 245/35/20 & 275/35/20 PS4S's. They look more square and only added 2 lbs per side to the fronts (no weight gain in the rears) and 0.3" in the overall diameter.

I to agree on using the factory tire size. It's possible that my current tires (Toyo Proxi's) just fit narrow. I'm planning on ordering Michelin PS4's for my new wheels. This will be my first time with Michelins as all of my other cars have been Bridgestone Potenza's, which I love, except for the short life that they have.
Getting anxious as my new wheels will be here in a couple of weeks (or sooner).
