Default 987 Spyder - Fabspeed race headers & PSE sound clip

I was given a GoPro Hero ages ago as a gift & finally took it out of the box last weekend. Never used one before so I thought I'd try something simple like recording the sound of my Spyder - for those that are curious what a PDK 987.2 Spyder sound like with Fabspeed race headers, PSE, GT3 TB, IPD plenum & tune.... I didn't use any other microphone other than the internal one, so the audio isn't great, but if you listen with headphones the sound is quite accurate. during the drive I had the car in sport plus with the PSE valves open. The sound in the clip with the valves closed is obviously much louder than what you hear in the car.

I love the sound of the shifts - the shifts in the video are not WOT or close to redline as the shifts become much more linear and seamless when going full tilt. They just don't sound as good though.

Wow that sounds fantastic, the way it should have been delivered from the factory!

I have not but the previous owner did once the modifications were performed & the dyno showed a ~40whp gain.

John Gaydos recorded almost exactly the same whp gains when he modified his cayman r.

First of all, what a fantastic sound! About time someone with a PDK recorded some proper video haha.

I have preached and will continue to do so that Race Headers/PSE is the best soundand best return on investment for performance on the Boxster/Cayman platform. Below is my dynograph of just the Race Headers/Tune on my Cayman R, some videos of the setup on my manual car, and you can follow this link to the write-up I made on the install and the results. Just ignore the signature as they changed it to someone else after I left haha.

If anyone wants this setup or any other enhancements for their car, give me a call anytime at 484 883 6197. I'd be happy to answer and questions and take care of you. My next project is a sub $1200 350/330mm rotor upgrade for the 987 front and rear.
External Sound
Internal Sound (follow video description for PSE on/off)

Thanks for posting the dyno results John. It's probably safe to assume that the IPD plenum and GT3 TB are good for an additional 10-15hp over your result with headers & tune. The aggressiveness of the tune will also play a role in final hp gains but to be honest; I could care less about the numbers - these are wonderful sensory enhancements to the car.

A good intake system certainly frees up a bit of performance, the IPD/TB more so on the 3.8L and the actual intake system/desnork more so on the 3.4L. And you are absolutely correct, at the end of the day what matters on the return on investment for the driving experience and these upgrades hit a home run every time. Glad you're enjoying them as much as I have : )

Catless headers + PSE >

Sounds great, and can be turned down to civil for the neighbors.

I have a 2011 987.2 Spyder. For anyone who has gone with catless race headers, do you get check engine lights when you go this route? And if your state requires emissions testing, can you pass? I used to have a 993 C4S with Fabspeed Sportcats, and I liked those, they did not throw a CEL, and I always passed emissions. If I go catless now, will I have problems?
