2007 Porsche Cayman - New Paint Suggestion (Black)
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some suggestions. I have factory black paint on my '07 Cayman S, but it's in horrible condition. Instead of going with another colour all together, I've decided to just go with black again, in hopes of saving some $$ in eliminating spraying the inner door jams, under hood etc.
Here's the thing, I need some suggestions on what kind of black I can advise my body shop guy to use. I really like a deep glossy black, but I don't want it to look to custom. I'd like to remain true to the Porsche Cayman colour listing.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you want it to be factory correct paint it the same color. The paint shop will use the car’s color code to obtain the correct paint system and color.
Unless I’m missing what your question is?

Thanks for the reply. I think what I'm asking is there a "newer" or "better" Porsche black that is being used now that will look nice on the '07 Cayman? ie. The newer Porsche's paint seems more "metallic" and I'm wondering if I should take a chance and use a newer style paint that the original factory.

there was also Basalt Black Metallic (now discontinued)
the regular black (uni, non-metallic) is the same as your black Cayman
I'd go with a wrap, you could pick a black color, or any new color, or some fancy looking design (go to the GT3 forum, search and see some of the designs)

the "new" black is Jet Black Metallic, has a faint blue hue in it

This color is dark enough that I don't think I'd have to pain the inner doors cause it's already black right?

The Basalt Black Metallic might be a better match for straight black .
I have had fellow PCA members refer to my car as black with Sand Beige interior .
But if you get within 3 feet you can definitely tell it is Atlas Grey Metallic .
Barely perceptible Dark Blue mixed with the Dark Grey .

Thanks for the suggestion - I really like how your car looks - very sharp. I think I might go with the Basalt black since my inner doors are going to be factory black - might look better and match when my doors are open. What do you think?

[QUOTE=Apex1;15088083]Or you can have a re spray of the black color like mine.
This is exactly what I'm going to do...so this is the factory black paint for an '07? Looks awesome!

Black is great color, but hell to keep looking perfect. My '04 996 4S was Atlas Gray as well. This pic shows the difference between Atlas Gray (metallic) and Jet (flat) or Basalt (metallic) black. I just love the color.

Yes I really love this Atlas Grey - the only issue is I am not painting inside the door jams and under hood etc. So when you open the door there will be to much of a contrast between the two colours. Otherwise I'd use Atlas Grey for sure. Thanks for your suggestion and posting a pic of that gorgeous 996.
