981 Spyder 2 year service cost
Hey guys, it's time to take my Spyder in for the 2 year service and was wondering what your experience has been from your dealer re: cost? Just want to make sure my dealer is in line. Thanks!

Should be oil and filter, air filters, brake fluid, and 2 cabin filters. Brake fluid will depend on mileage and usage, cabin filters and air filters you can change yourself. Brake flush and oil service.....$400-$500...…...Phil

Is the air filter really required every 2 years or is it based on miles?

Just done last week - dealer wanted close to $900 (!!), had my indy shop do it for 1/2 that.
Had them insect the pollen filter and it didn't need changing yet.

Goddamn! I did a service right around my 2 year but it was just inspection and oil change. They didn't alert me for anything else. I am not bothered. That price sounds ridiculous! To my indy shop I will go if I need to do that work!

I was quoted over 1k. Asked for a discount. Waiting to hear back. My 991 had full maint included but didn’t buy it for the Spyder. Perhaps I should have...

Three So Cal dealers quoted me $1,100 - $1,199 for the intermediate two year service, but found a dealer running a $375 oil change "special," and $239 for the brake bleed during the month of May (link to coupons below for anyone in So Cal). If I add on the cabin filter change, I should be able to get all the required/recommended two-year work done for under $750 and get my service booklet dealer-stamped reflecting completion of the intermediate service.

That's a huge savings and I totally get the financial allure of going to an independent shop, particularly for the most basic routine service that is hard to botch. But I'm guessing you guys that have the major and intermediate Porsche recommended services performed at an indy don't place much value on having your service booklet reflect a Porsche dealer's stamp essentially verifying that the work has been performed at a dealer using genuine OEM parts. I'm admittedly **** about this sort of thing and if I ever bought a used Porsche, a dealer-stamped service booklet reflecting timely service by a dealer at the recommended mileage/date would give me a certain peace of mind and be a big selling point -- at least for me (YMMV). While I would love to save several hundred $$$, getting that damn service booklet stamped prevents me from doing so. Call me nuts.

No financial savings though. Paying for the only game in town (or state in this case)!
