I don't think that is the case. There aren't many PS2's available in 20" but I found 265/30/20 listed at 26 lbs on the Tire Rack site. The PS4S in 265/35/20 is 27 lbs, 1 lb heavier but the whole 1" taller. If the PS4S is exactly the same size as the PS2, I suppose they will weigh very close. FWIW, the following is a comparison between the PS4S and the P Zeros in the same sizes:

235/35/20 PS4S: 23 lbs / P Zero: 22 lbs
265/35/20 PS4S: 27 lbs / P Zero: 28 lbs

Not sure if this is what you are asking, but for the 235/265 combo Tire Rack has them listed as:

Pilot Super Sport: 22lbs/26lbs
Pilos Sport 4S (N0): 23lbs/27lbs

Thanks for all the response. I have been doing further research. There is a new Pirelli P-Zero PZ4. According to the description on tire rack it has improved wet handling. It comes with the same statement as the previous P-Zero: "Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P Zero (PZ4), like all summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice." While i try not to drive the BGTS in the colder temps living in MN that is difficult. I have the car in heated storage 11/1 to 5/1, though this year probably middle of May. October temps can easily be below 45 degrees F. This became an issue 2 years ago when I drove the BGTS home from AZ in March. Northern Texas had a morning temp of 28 degrees. We warmed the tires up on the service road prior to getting in the interstate. Due to the possible cracking issue I continued to check the tires on the trip home. I have not seen this warning on the Michelin's nor heard of the issue with them, but understand the importance of staying above freezing and not driving on wet roads below 40 degrees. The other issues with the Pirelli's have been hard ride and noise which others have mentioned. I had Michelin's Pilot Sports on the '07 Boxster S and really liked them. Just no experience with the newer models. Here is a comparison test on tire rack: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=223. Like I said in the original post the fronts have lots of miles left but since I need rears maybe just bite the bullet and replace them all.

Are the 4S worth $200 more/set than the PZ4? I think so. I'm too unimpressed to risk another Pirelli offering.

The only superior Pirelli tire out there are the Trofeo Rs for the track (Cup 2s are a shade below). Other than that, Pireillis are pretty lousy tires vs. Michelins overall no matter what tire category.

I replaced my SC2's recently with 4S's due to the weather in the NW. The 4S performance in cool/cold/wet crappy weather is stunning. Orders of magnitude better than the SC2's. Highly, highly recommended. Can't wait to see how they do when we actually see the sun again.

The net price I paid after a Tire Rack discount of $43.12 and the Michelin rebate of $70 was $1,191.34 for 4 tires delivered to my installer. Not bad! The 245/275 combo (non N) was actually cheaper than 235/265 (N0).

I mounted my summer PS4S's up (and pulled the winter Pirelli's off) last week on a nice 70F day here in Chicago. Of course, it has since snowed and low temps have hovered in the 30's.

I've driven on them with added care, expecting them to be hockey pucks, but they've been just fine.

YMMV

I just replaced the Goodyear Eagles on my 2014 Cayman S with Pilot Sport 4S in 235 and 265 19's. Not a lot of miles yet, but are quieter and seem more responsive. Went to a local Michelin dealer and with $70 back my price was $1074 mounted balanced and down the road. Much better price than the original equipment and a better tire as well.

That is a great deal! Does Michelin offer the PS4S in 235/40/19? Or did you go with 235/35/19 that is 1.1" shorter than the OEM size?

My tires are factory size, 235 40 19 and 265 40 19. PS4's The 265 40 19 is a very recent addition to their line in PS4. Tire guy told me that he makes very little per tire sold but gets a great kick back per tire for large volume. He said he gets so much back per tire if he sells over 600 and so muck more if over 1000 etc. Great price. When I went in to order them he even told me to wait a week until the rebate started.

Glad Michelin kept the weights down on the new tires!

Priced them out with my tire guy today. He is very high on the PS4s. Says I will thank him for convincing me to spend the xtra $700 to replace all 4 over staying with the Pirelli and just replacing the rear tires ?. Been buying tires from the guy for 15 years. Probably put his kid through college. Once I can get the BGTS out of storage, snow melts, potholes fixed and streets cleaned, we'll take a closer look. Thanks for all the good feedback. Really appreciate the input with cooler temps.

I think it's a good move

I have P-Zeros on my C4 and they are just terrible. Loads of road/tire noise and I feel like they are so firm with not enough grip even when warm, like driving on hockey pucks. I never get that feeling like the tires are warming up and getting more compliant/now gripping to the tarmac. Also dont have a lot of confidence throwing the car into corners on them, even with the immense AWD grip of the car. In the wet and/or cold even worse. On an empty road in cooler temps, I hit a tiny wet patch maybe 50-100m before a corner so eased off the car aware of this, and still broke the rear end out which was very eye opening/surprising

Surprisingly the noise rating is only 2db which is almost unnoticeable in a car.
