Default Battery/Generator Error - Starting

Hi everyone,

Hoping for some suggestions. Car has been sitting for a while and tried to start it today. After charging the battery, I went to start the car, and it wouldn't start. I connected my battery charger again, and noticed the battery % was all the way back down to 1%. I charged again back to about 95%, and tried to start - same issue. As soon as I try to start it, all the power just dies and I can't even get my driver side window closed.

I than connected with jumpers my other car to the Cayman, and it started fine. Problem is, I removed the jumper cable, and the car just went dead (engine stopped). Tried revving the engine for a while but as soon as I disconnect the jumper cables, the car dies.

Just want to ask if anyone knows if this could be an alternator issue, or should I try replacing the battery first?

It sounds like the battery is totally shot, so it must be replaced. The cause of the battery failure may be the charging system or just age of the battery. Start with the battery; easy to do yourself and relatively inexpensive.

Thank you! I will check wal-mart tomorrow if they have one in stock.

Probably battery.
Batteries used to die slowly, with lots of time to drive out for a replacement before the car wouldn't start.
Now you often only have a couple of days between "weak" and "dead".

Thanks...I went to Wal Mart but only had the base cayman battery for 2.7L. Will try and see if Costco has one.

Hi everyone. I live in Toronto area and wondering what kind of battery you recommend to replace and where I can purchase?
