The "sexier" car: 991 C2S Cab or Boxster Spyder?

My favorite Spyder video. Even with subtitles is well worth it. Plus a comparison to the 911 cab at the end.

Spyder all day long. To my eyes, 991 is too bulbous whereas Spyder is a classic in the making...there are many 911s which, judged solely on looks, are far superior to 991.

Just another point of view...I have a 987.1 Boxster S which I really like. I know it is nothing like a Spyder but I still love the way it drives and handles. But, I am selling it and moving to a 911. Reason, my wife feels claustrophobic with the top up and doesn't feel safe in it on the interstate. Top down on the back roads, she loves it. We test drove a 2013 911 Cab and she really liked that and didn't feel like it was too small with the top up. So for me, the choice would be an easy one, 911 C2S all day long. I will either get that or an '09 Turbo with a 6 speed manual. I think those cars are going to appreciate as they are the last of the Mezger engines with the newer electronics. I also think the 991.1 911's will hold their value as soon as folks realize they are the last naturally aspirated 911's that will probably ever be built (other than the exotics...).
Either way, you can't lose just like I can't. We are both arguing with our wives over WHICH PORSCHE to buy!!!

Tell your wife one is subject to about $100k of deprecation if not more, the other one will appreciate over time. You can see what the 991.2 C2S trend line will look like by looking at 991.1, 997 and 996. Nice vehicle but at the weak end of Porsche sports cars.

Did they make a removable painted hard top option for the 991 911 Cabriolet? I saw a 996 or 997 with one today in the rain and it looked pretty cool. Not Spyder cool, but cool nonetheless.

This thread is hilarious. What kind of answers do you expect from a Boxster/Cayman forum? Spyder for sure. Far more rare than the 991. And it has a 991 engine and styling bits from the GT line. But I’m not biased at all. I’ve never experienced the Spyder either, just it’s hard top cousin.
if the Spyder is also GT shifter and clutch, which I think it is, even better.
991 manual is 7MT which is kind of weird. And non GT clutch and shifter are more squishy feeling I think.
