570 HP Cayman
This is my 2007 4.0L single turbo Cayman S. It was features in the December 2013 issue of Excellence magazine. It made 573 HP and 504 lb/ft at the wheels on pump gas @~ 12psi boost. Drivability was great with little turbo lag. Brakes and suspension were also upgraded and the car was just amazing to drive. Kind of overkill for the street as getting on the power in third could spin the 285's. fourth gear felt like first in the stock Cayman! LOL It kept on breaking little things on track so I decided to convert it to a track only car. I do miss it as a daily driver though. It was so beautiful.

What engine did you use? Any pics? Interested to see how you got that jammed in there.
Surely you upgraded the clutch too, right?

Acceleration was off the charts but I never did any 0-60 or quarter mile runs. The transmission would never survive drag starts. I ran lots of DE with the car and the intent was maximum 60-150 MPH acceleration. Many GT3 drivers were stunned as a lowly Cayman blew by them on the straights! LOL I had no problem pulling 911 TT's either.
The engine was built by Vision motorsports using a sleeved block from a 3.8 L. The heads where the originals from my 3.4 L. X51 intake manifold. 9.9:1 forged pistons and HD rods. A/W Intercooler and exhaust piping where from a TPC turbo kit. Garrett turbo and custom tuning from Vision and Evolution Motorsports. Yes the clutch was replaced with a custom heavy duty unit.

Life insurance definitely recommended! LOL It was very easy to drive. Throttle response was very linear and it drove like stock with gently throttle. Dip into the loud pedal hard and prepare to make some steering corrections! So much power on the street was a waste. I could rarely get on it. So much more fun on the track! So I converted it into a track only car to race. I have a 2013 Boxter S PDK and I don't even floor that on the street. I must be getting old! LOL

Tuning took a lot of time and money with the stock ECU. It's much easier now with Cobb tuning etc. Aftermarket ECU's like AEM make it even easier.
