The Golf R I just recently sold had a similar effect paint. VW calls the color Limestone Grey. I had picked that color due to the lack of silver.

It was actually quite effective in hiding dirt because of it's brownish tendencies rather than a neutral grey/silver. However, silver is usually my top choice. I just think that the agate may look better with the black wheels.

Gotta disagree with you there. To my eye, the Spyder with the top down takes the cake looks-wise over any Cayman I've ever seen.

I'll have to see a 981 Spyder in person before I make that decision for myself. Until then the Cayman reigns supreme for me!

If I had to rank them it might be:

987.2 Cayman S
718 Cayman S
981 Cayman S/GTS
987.1 Cayman S
718 Boxster S/GTS
981 Boxster S/GTS
All the older Boxsters

I've only seen one Spyder in person. It was a 987. It spent about a year on different car lots around here. Around 40K miles but it was clearly a track car. It had been thoroughly abused and beaten up. Think they were asking around $45K. No idea how well it ran. They couldn't get it to start when I was looking at it.

Beautiful. And that isn't even the Spyder's best side if you ask me. I gotta have more of that luscious rear end and Batman deck. Doesn't get sexier than that.

Of course I gotta put mine in there!

My wife couldn't care less about my car hobby and has never said a word about any of my Porsche's or other sports cars, but the day I pulled into the garage with the Agate Spyder, she stopped and said 'wow, that is really stunningly beautiful.'

GT Silver is just a beautiful, pure silver. Agate is a great color, but does have a touch of brown in it, in certain light. Color is just so subjective. Go with what you love!!

I would go GT silver, do not prefer Agate gray.

That GT Silver with classic interior is hard to beat.

I spent what felt like an eternity trying to decide between GT silver and agate grey for my new 718 CGTS.

I eventually settled on the agate grey.

You cannot go wrong with either. I looked at both colours on youtube, the web, instagram etc as well as looking at the colours in the flesh at the OPC. One day I was going for GT Silver then the next day was agate grey, then GT Silver again.

You will drive yourself mad. You will change your mind countless times.

Just choose whichever one you want, your first instinct is probably the one to go with but console yourself with the fact that you cannot get the choice wrong. Either colour will look incredible.

Default My GT Silver Spyder

I waffle between loving the GT Silver, and wishing I’d done PTS. Fashion Grey would have been my choice. I remain always slightly in the “glad I ordered GT Silver” camp. I would not have been unhappy with Agate. It’s stunning also.

I swapped wheels on these Spyders since this picture was taken. To my eye the black wheels look good on either the GT silver or the agate grey car.

Quick Reply: GT Silver vs Agate grey.
