Default Fire extinguisher mounting in 981

I am purchasing a 2015 Boxster S which will be spending a fair amount of time on the track, so will need a fire extinguisher. For my 2002 Boxster S (sold with its extinguisher), I had a Brey-Kraus bracket mounted to the underside front of the passenger seat. My wife was NOT FOND of this gouging her calves on trips, so I’m seeking advice on alternatives. The seats are 14-way power seats, without ventilation. Can I mount it to the driver’s seat? Console on passenger side? Elsewhere?

Any advice is appreciated, including alternatives to expensive Brey-Kraus brackets, etc.

I recommend checking out the KAP industries solution.
We have them installed in our GT4 one on each side. You can still slide the seats forward and clears the extinguisher.

Yeah, for $500. But it sprays Stuttgart unicorn tears which are extra-good at putting out fires, so I'm sure it's totally worth it.

I have this one, mounted under driver's seat. I also like the fact that it doesn't interfere with my floor mats.

Thanks to all for your advice!
KAP industries, SpeedTactics, and others appear to make mounts that would work for under $100, so I’m happy !
The Rennline ad specifically says “for manual seats only” which would seem to rule out my 14-way electrics with memory, unless I am misinterpreting it.

It's funny, but the factory fire extinguisher was by far the cheapest option with my '15 Cayman GTS. It was something like $75 or $125 if I remember correctly. It is the same item that Suncoast sells for $495, and it does fit very nicely with the manual sport seats.

If you already have a bottle then the $495 is pretty steep, but the factory version, even at the markup for aftermarket, isn't that much more than bottle+mount if you go to RennLine etc.

The GT4 had two options, one seat mounted and one on the side of the center console tunnel for the Carbon fiber sport seats cars (LWB) that may work as an OEM option.

Will this mount work for a 2016 GT4 with the LWB's?

I’ve used the removable Rennline unit for years. It is awesome. Very easy to install the first time and then goes in and out in seconds when not needed.

I have since switched to dedicated track seats (Sparco) which don’ t work with the Rennline mount. I’ve simpy drilled holes in the aluminum track mats (same as photo above) and mounted the extinguisher on the floor. Works like a charm as well, but as easily removable.

Interesting conundrum regarding a Fire Extinguisher in a mid-engine car with the engine compartment completely enclosed.
If there's a fire in the engine compartment ..really not much chance of getting any retardant where it needs to go.

Which is what I like about the Element Fire Extinguisher. Supposed to be approved for PCA events ..not sure about other HPDE/Track requirements.
I got one and put it in the glove box.

I have the SpeedTactics setup in the Viper. In fact the SpeedTactics guy is a Viper owner.
Maybe he has a Porsche too, dunno.

I agree with the thoughts regarding a fire in a mid-engine car. That said, it's important to note that, in the majority of cases, extinguishers are used to put out fires in someone else's car.

Plus one on the Element Extinguisher. It has several advantages including small size that easily fits in the glovebox which eliminates the need for a special mount. Win win.
