Spyder,
IMO, I think you may be right. My research of an OEM solution shows that the OEM rear view camera (I638) was included in with the F&R Park Assist Package(I636/I638) in certain 911s. Looking at the Porsche Parts Listing for these options also includes, along with the above mentioned brackets, harness, etc.; a Controller Unit #95B919475B is also part of the package:

As you, I'm still hopeful that Godly's package works out........but at this point, I doubt it.

Godly had initially said he wanted an OEM solution but then sourced an aftermarket harness from Asia. Hmm. That Maxspeed kit is looking pretty good right about now. I mean, we're only talking about a $10 camera, some wires, and a device for converting the camera's signal into something the PCM understands. Not rocket science. This really should be an over the counter factory upgrade offering.

I just finished coding the Maxspeed camera. I had installed it a couple of weeks ago but couldn't get a dealer appointment until today, but in the meantime Maxspeed came out with the coding tool rental. I canceled the appointment and Nello sent me the tool, I followed the instructions and it works. Nothing shows, the camera is about 4" right of center but it isn't noticeable and I'm happy. No one but me will know it isn't factory.

Works as described in the advertising?

Any details regarding the removal of the trim pieces you could offer to assist the next guy? Did you do it or did you have a shop handle the install?

Hey guys, sorry for long wait, but i am stuck with PCM 3.43 as there is no way to update it to 4.76 version.
I have latest DVD for it, but as my PCM is early, it cant go above 3.43 version.

So now trying to figure out how to hack it.

I’ve got this same problem. I find it asinine that Porsche did this with our PCM3.1.

ALL 2013 981 should have the same PCM3.1, not some lesser variant of it.

I just pray that it fails before my warranty ends next year and Porsche is forced to replace it.

Hey Godly and Mrg02D... Sucks doesn't it! Such a "major impact" in such a "minor" rev (meaning they left it called "PCM 3.1" even though we are clearly missing some important stuff!).
And I haven't seen any evidence that you can take a newer PCM and just plop it in (though Id like to believe a newer PCM 3.1 should go, but at that point....)

For now I just went with a FenSens backup sensor thing + android.

Sucks big time. I’m using a pearl backup camera for now, but pearl went bankrupt, so this camera will only work for so long.

Porsche should have released some sort of upgrade kit.

For those with the 2013 PCM 3.1, would this be an option:

https://navtv.com/products/NTV-MOD03...n-service.html

Expensive! But would keep the OEM look....

Also found this:

I’d rather put the few grand towards a different car rather than a backup camera :-)

Or just go with an aftermarket navigation like my Pioneer 5100NEX and their backup camera for less than $1000 installed. There is a Porsche install kit I do this.
