Good point on the 987. You're right and I stand corrected.

The 981 Spyder Wheel design was basically a facelift of the 987... but had no weight advatange. The GT4 was a 5 lug version of the GT3, but not forged. 982 looks to be a facelift separate design of the GT4... but with more angular spokes... The days of the Spyder being a special one off are gone... and I get why... makes sense. Looks like the Porsche Brand department will start to mirror the marketing of the 982 with the 911. T will be the more basic faux lightweight marketing and the GT4/Performance will be more geared to pinnicale 982 performance?

They're already worth less than that (though asking prices have stayed somewhat inflated), but it's winter. So I guess we're all kind of expecting a ~$7k price increase over the prior Spyder, so $90k ish base. Assuming the average brand new Spyder is optioned at $105k, I think we'll see 981's dip into the high 70's (with >20k mileage, no CPO), and low to mid 80's with low mileage/CPO. It's fun to guess. Although it won't matter probably for me, as I probably won't get rid of it unless it's for another Spyder that I can customize the build on.

Either way, I paid less than sticker 18 months ago for mine and it's depreciated maybe $5k in that time frame and 5k miles. That's insanely good.

Also happens the 987 Spyder/Cayman R wheels are the lightest 19" road wheel Porsche has made AFAIK... that's why I run them as my road wheel That despite them being wider than many other 19" they made.

CAR reporting Goodwood intro for new GT4:

https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-sh...pecs-and-info/

Also $117K base price. How's that for a jump!

Spyder will be pricey, folks. Start scrounging for spare change between your sofa cushions.

That puts the Spyder I wanted to spec up to probably $135-140K. No thanks. As much as I want it.

981 GT4 base price in the UK was 64,451 pounds. If the 982 GT4's base price in the UK is going up to 90,000 pounds as the article says, that's a massive increase. My math is fuzzy, but I think that's close to a whopping 40% bump up in base price.

Lots of ifs, ands and buts in these numbers, but if the 982 gen of GT4 and Spyder experience a similar percentage increase in the U.S., nicely equipped cars after options will approximate $140K.

If so, I think you will see 981 GT4/Spyder resale prices really hold firm -- maybe even rise?? -- particularly in light of the fact the new cars appear to be sticking with the 3.8.

The 981 GT4/Spyder were screaming deals, which becomes particularly evident when you price out 718 S and GTS cars. Porsche definitely left money on the table with the 981 gen, something it will not repeat this next time around.

Spyder isn't going to have a higher base price than a 992 C2S. It's just not.

I don’t know where the article got its 90k GBP price from, but a $117k USD base price would be absurd. The GBP died after Brexit, so that could explain some of the hypothesized rise, but a price rise like that would throw off many buyers. I’d certainly be out at that price. Reasonably specced, after sales tax, that would approaching $200k CAD up here. Hell no, I won’t pay that. I know this forum thinks the 981 Spyder is the best Porsche of all time and all, but no, that price makes no sense.

The US dollar/Pound Sterling ratio has changed quite significantly since the 981 GT4.
Based on the previous exchange rate, the price of the new GT4 in the UK should be 76K GBP which equates to 101K USD at the current exchange rate. Also not sure if VAT is included in that speculated price.

I would be surprised if Porsche bumps up the price by over 10%. I remember reading somewhere on rennlist and on the comment section of the carmagazine article where people have been told this by dealerships.

I’d expect the price to be in line with Porsche hierarchy.

Less than base 992 or close to it.

I expect the base price for the new GT4 to be around $100k +/-

Don't forget that Boxsters are now 5% more than Caymans. And they used to be 5% less so there's a ~10% rise on the Spyder there without additional inflation/premium.

Correct. And, we should not estimate the price by direct currency conversions between countries, especially for the US. Our pricing is completely different from RoW. I echo the comment that the Spyder will be close to 992 Cab (base).
