At the time I didn’t think anything of it, but now starting to think otherwise.

If the 982 Spyder is going to be Motorsport developed, will it stray too far from its roots as being the perfect balanced pure road/canyon carving sportscar? Will the engine, suspension, brakes, tires be over the top for our beloved Spyder? Everyone (Including several 911 GT3 and GT3 RS owners) state how perfect the 981 is. I ask the serious question, will Porsche jump the Shark with the 982 Spyder by focusing on the wrong things (performance over purity of connecting with the car and the environment it is in.)
it was me ......they are a customer of mine and we were at a function .......a certain executive asked what did I drive and I told him I had a 2016 RS he was like nice! When I said I also had a 981 Spyder he smiled and said never sell it ........now didn’t pay too much attention to it, but it came from the right person. Not like he was trying to sell me something(:

this will be interesting because it will have a better to HP ratio than the GTS as 450 if around the same weight as the Spyder. Sounds risky as we all know the mid-engine car performes better. Porsche has always protected the 911 .......also the GT3 engine is a 50k plus motor not sure how that math hunts at 3% increase if so deal of the century.

Something tells me, pure hunch.. Gt4 and Spyder will be 4 cyl turbo.
Heck, it could be better than most of the 911 line (with a GT3 4.0 engine) , not just the speedster and cheaper too.

I agree. 981 was allowed to surpass the base 911 for cheaper, cant realistically see them allowing the 982 to be better than the 911 Base and S with only a 3% markup over the 981.
I hope it does for new buyers - would love to see the Spyder's continued improvement and some lucky folks get a great deal. I have a feeling if it does come to pass that markup will be insane.

To be honest, when I was at a recent Porsche World Roadshow, one of the driving instructors said the 718 Spyder and GT4 will have the NA flat 6. Not sure how legitimate his source is.

In this case.. that Spyder will be THE car to have.. this is from a former owner who will be diving in again...

And you’d be okay driving something that sounds like a Suby?

Hopefully some aftermarket parts will fix that - but it is a big part of the equation for me.

As soon as I read the post about the Spyder debuting in Paris and having the 4.0 GT engine, I took my 981 Spyder for a drive thought the back roads of North Carolina south of Raleigh. Glorious day for a top down ride, and what a ride it was. I'm first on the line at my dealership for the 982 Spyder but that said the 981 reminded me again today how totally satisfying and quick it is. Sold a 13,000 mi 500 hp Turbo cab after buying the Spyder that I loved but miss not at all. If the 982 version is indeed a 4.0 my problem will be how to keep both at least for a while. Adrenaline still pumping...
