So the photographer (Andreas Mau) of the spy photos said this word for word when asked if it sounded NA:
”Sadly sounding more and more turbo, hope im wrong 😉”

It definitely makes you wonder if Porsche will start borrowing platforms from Audi and VW if they start offsetting life cycles etc. You have to think that VW is going to start meddling with Porsche to help make the entire company more profitable.

Maybe I'm out to lunch, but even a summer/fall 2019 delivery seems early to me. The 987 Spyder was a 2011/12 model. The 981 Spyder is a 2016. So there was a good 4-5 year gap between the first two Spyders. I would assume the 982 would follow a similar timeline, which would place it as a 2020/21 model, no? Most of us are just recently celebrating the 2 year anniversary of our 981 Spyders. I'm thinking it should be at least another two years before we see the 982 and I haven't really understood the speculation that the next Spyder is right around the corner, unless I missed some announcement as to the timing of the car's intro (which is quite possible).

Been following this for awhile and although I think the clip sounds turbo those who are talking about the exhaust placement having something to do with NA or TT I think are wrong. Looking at the Porsche site they put the exhaust all over the place, even the GT3 and GT3RS are different. I especially noticed that the GTS and regular 911S were in different locations and I believe the only diff in those engines are tune and maybe turbo size?? not sure feel free to correct me if wrong.

I am convinced at this point that the Spyder will be turbo, but it could still be the Carrera(S) engine in theory.
A while back we were discussing the spy shot that slowed the left hand side of the rev counter, and the spacing of the numbers possibly indicating that it only goes up to 8K like the turbo cars. I found another shot that all but confirms that for me. The "7" is pretty clear and given its position there is only room for the counter to go to 8K total.

The original shot was pretty high res already, just resampled it x5 or something. It would be hard to distinguish a 5 from a 6 from an 8 etc but a 7 is a good number to try and make with only a few pixels.

987 Spyder rev counter
981 Spyder rev counter
I would say that the upcoming 982 Spyder rev counter could arguable be compared to the 987's interms of the positioning of numbers.
