Agree!

...but you'll still find me putting my money down for the one that looks like a mini Carrera GT

This will more than likely be the steering wheel for the Spyder/GT4... might delete the multifunctional buttons and add contrast stitching.

I don't like it. I don't like it at all. Seems very corvette-ish to me...

The Spyder mules have it with the normal 718 GTS wheel, not sure they will use the 992 wheel.

They are mules. The 981 Spyder/GT4 also had a newer design over the other 981s.

While I don't think it looks Corvette-ish, I don't care for it either. Alcantara makes a streering wheel look thicker anyway, and that wheel just looks ridiculously thick. Like it has one of those fuzzy covers you can buy at the auto parts store.

That's a lot of black. A bit too monotone for my taste, but as you say, there may be deviated stitching to break things up a bit. I'd prefer some aluminum-look in there somewhere.

Always wished the Spyder got the deviated stitch on the GT4 wheel. Maybe this time around it will.

My guess is we won't see a naked wheel free of buttons and *****, which is my personal preference as expressed previously. The days of the steering wheel serving a single purpose of turning the car in the right direction seem to be (almost) over.

Actually, Nick, I'm predicting we'll see the default steering wheel with no buttons! That's my preference as well. They got to make all the distractions optional!

Could that be a PDK? The street seems level. But the driver stays on the brake pedal when stopped. It has nice growl at idle. A good indicator!
