I'm trying to decide if I do get a Spyder allocation, whether to go for a PTS color, and if that PTS color should be Irish Green vs Brewster vs something else (Voodoo Blue?). I'm not sure the darker green colors work as well on the Spyder.

Totally subjective but I don’t see why not, it’s in the eyes of the beholder.

Inclined to agree, but wanna see the two side-by-side. I can see how the new car appeals to those who prefer more aggression in the design.

Yep. From Porsche's Press release:
https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/prod...zed-15877.html
Developing 450 horsepower, the classic sports car will celebrate its world premiere at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion in Laguna Seca (USA) on September 27, 2018. The collector’s item, which is limited to use on private tracks, will then be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta on October 27, 2018. The proceeds will be donated to the Ferry Porsche Foundation, a non-profit organization established this year to mark the “70 years of Porsche sports cars” celebrations.
Note that the RR run schedule for Thursday does say "Porsche Special Laps (reveal cars)," so it appears there will be more than just one car presented and since Project Gold is a one-of-one car I'm thinking another model will also be revealed.
