Well, upon further reflection, I am even more convinced that a detuned GT3 mill will be the one. Here is why: Yes, GT3s are probably winding down in '18. The regs in '19 will require the engine to have Particle Filter (or whatever it is called and associated changes) in order to comply. Someone reported that the compliance will cut the power. That's precisely why that engine is a good fit, assuming the cost is kept in check: they don't need to do much to detune it! If the new Euro regs make the power to drop and with little further detuning, it can be perfectly positioned in the pecking order. Only other big variable then would be the cost of the engine and compliance.

One of the C-level exec commented in a recent interview (forgetting who and which magazine) that GT3 could have NA engine as long as it is competitive in motorsports. Well, that's cop-out! GT3 is already uncompetitive against turbo charged peers. In a few years, the situation will get worse as the turbo-ed cars can be easily juiced up. With NA engine and the kind of power delivery (which we enthusiasts love), GT3 will struggle; badly! So, essentially, the dude was cracking the door open every so lightly for the eventuality that the NA is done. If the GT3 loses NA, then it's game over for all! Even I, ever the optimist, consider the possibility that the NA is done at the current gen. That leaves one last hurrah for GT4/Spyder to go out on a high. It's gonna be a parting gift from Porsche to hardcore enthusiasts. One last time!

Well here is to hoping should be a month away from the GT4 reveal which will give us onsite on the spyder.

One of the values that I like about the Spyder it stands alone as a Spyder, and the looks to me are superior to the above if those pics are legit. Im not a fan of more power because Im satisfied from that perspective. Cant wait to see the end results.

I haven't been to the LA show in over a decade, but if they reveal it there, that'd be a great reason to go back.

From that autocar article. Nowhere does it state it will get electric top. Not really trash reporting at all.

Seriously doubt it's the old 987.2 tent design. Cool design but will kill Porsche's ability to sell them.
