I have a deposit on a Spyder (for 3 years) and was told by SA that allocations have not been given to dealerships yet (I’m in Canada)

Jamie, are you sure orders submitted or do you mean Allocations are due to the dealers? No allocations have been distributed yet for North America. I reached out to my SM at my dealer and he stated that Standard allocations are due in today or tomorrow, but he wasn't sure if that would include the 982 Spyder/GT4 or not. He is out until tomorrow... so maybe others can confirm this info?

That matches my experience. My SA didnt have a build date yet when he contacted me last week, but told me hell have a car for me, and wanted me to spec out the car, sign a purchase agreement for my spec, and place an additional $4k deposit, all of which I did.

While this is true for some options, Porsche has been doing more Porsche exclusive options on the line itself. You can tell on builds because there is no provision to go to the exclusive workshop. I have an exclusive option on my GT3, but it never went to the exclusive workshop so it was installed on the line. It would not surprise me if everything available as a Porsche exclusive option is actually installed on the line with the GT4/718 spyder. Which makes sense because it was really odd an inefficient to do things like remove the sport chrono clock to fit one with a different color face.

No chance for negotiation at the dealer where I have a deposit. They are the second largest volume dealer in North America. Perhaps other dealers do this in Canada but highly doubted on a in demand car.

I didn't figure there was anything happening below MSRP. Just wondering if all dealers were doing ADM or not. I would not agree to pay MSRP+ under any circumstances, even a PTS opportunity. The rumored 3 year run of 982 Spyders makes me think they won't hold their value as well as the 981's have up to now.

I was just wondering, how Porsche managed to say that Spyder and GT4 weight exactly the same?... as the last gen, Spyder roof should count for less weight... unless they "made" it match by means of option out the radio on GT4 so they could homologate it lighter and match the difference with Spyder? (I'm not sure about any of this so I'm just guessing). Someone knows the answer? is Spyder lighter?

Convertibles typically have more reinforcement for structural rigidity and rollover protection. The Spyder roof is lighter compared to the standard roof. Plus the 981 Spyder had smaller brakes, wheels and simpler suspension.... now they mirror the GT4.

According to the attached technical specification sheet from the press release comparing stats for the GT4 and Spyder side-by-side, there is a small 7 lbs. weight difference with the curb weight of the GT4 at 3,199 lbs and that of the Spyder at 3,206 lbs.

We were just there two nights at The Benson.
Had dinner with Rennlister 'Montoya' at The
Pigeon on Tuesday night. Then drove today
to Astoria on the Columbia River to have
dinner with another Rennlister that owns a
'Mint Green' gt3 Touring, Staying here overnight
then up to Seattle. Meeting there on Sunday
morning in Issaquah with a group of Porsche
owners that meet for breakfast every Sunday,
some that are Rennlisters (including Amar),
The following day take a ferry to Victoria to
meet another '15 gt3 owner & fellow Rennlister.
So it is a vacation that tangentially involves a
lot of Porsche friends I have met via this forum!
Donavan: Let's make plans to get together
next time I am in Portland!

SA asked for my build code yesterday. I passed waiting for PDK. No build slots yet. Paying MSRP though. 👍
