if it just has high tuned old 3.8 and base price is more than 95ish, I'll look for a 981 instead
if it has detuned 4L then I'll play as long as base is below 115ish if higher I'll look for a gt car instead

It's not going to be a "detuned GT3 engine" in any real sense. It won't have the exotic bits that allow the GT3's engine to spin to 9K and the intake side is going to be nothing like it either. Engine block, sure why not. The old GT4 was already sharing that with the old GT3. It's not the same heads, crank, pistons etc.

I think that the most important statement provided directly from Porsche in regards to the Speedster’s desirably aside from “Limited Edition” is “The Speedster’ is essentially a Porsche GT model.”
https://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/911-speedster/

Hopefully, they will give some sort of similar statement in regards to the Spyder regardless of the name given to the car.

Even if AP only rested his coffee mug on top of the Spyder designs for 30 minutes, that would mean a lot.

Take this with a grain of salt, what I saw posted on German forum pff.

"4.0 B6 I would also confirmed, but without specifying the origin, whether from the GT3 fuselage or from the 3.8 drilled out ... 420 hp, 420 Nm, only 6-speed manual transmission

yes, really disappointing if they can't come up with one or two new colors

and no Lizard Green? Eduardo will be disappointed

however, color selection seems like previous Spyders in that there are fewer color choices

big question is will Spyder cost more or less than GT4? I'd say more than GT4 if it has the same suspension and motor (between $105k and $110k)

will there be a Boxster 6? pricing?

If the Spyder shares all or most of the hardware with GT4, the chassis and dynamics-tuning will be street-focused. The Spyder isn't gonna compete against its twin (evil) brother for the lap times. If you liked 981 (or 987 for that matter), you'll be blown away by 982. Well, that's my forecast anyway.
Porsche was deliberate with the 981 Spyder to make it an outstanding road car, not track car. Giving it the X73 suspension did just that. There is no X73 option for the 982 so undoubtedly Porsche didn't expend the R&D to come up with something unique for the 982 Spyder. If it is to be more track worthy (as a consequence of a lack of further development), then that's just Porsche being lazy and cheap and accepting the harsh ride versus keeping it road compliant as they associate with the platform. A Spyder with a GT4ish stiff suspension won't be an upgrade or ideal for the environment for which it's intended. Some will love it because they think stiffer is better, and they'll also like the fact someone else drove it around the ring closer to the time the new GT4 sets. But a Spyder is ideal when it soaks up miles with a taut yet compliant and quiet suspension. There's a big difference in driving manners between the 981 Spyder and GT4 and if Porsche was smart they kept it that way. There's nothing Porsche can do to the 982 Spyder that would blow me away. I thought my Spyder had issues controlling the power of the 3.8 so I'm not sure they'll get it any more correct with the 982. What I've learned about Porsche over the years is their promise is much greater than the reality. I won't be suckered by the spec sheet (anymore ).

Agreed. They dropped Carmine Red, the only interesting metallic colour? And no greens? I would have loved a mamba green Spyder, with PCCB and yellow interior stitching, maybe a yellow stripe on the steering wheel centre too.

Unfortunately, PTS will probably be too expensive given their recent increases on other cars.

Any additional info on whether PDK will be offered just as in the GT4? Will it follow the rumored 6 month delay? I really would like a PDK spyder. That would make the decision easy to exit the GT3.
