How many keys does the 987 support at one time?

How many keys does the 987 support at one time?
I bought the car with one key. Bought another key from a dealer at $600+ and a 5 week wait to have it programmed.
Orig owner found the original lost 2nd key and got it in my hands. It unlocks the door and the steering but when you turn it to turn on the ignition, it sets the alarm off.
The battery tests the same as the others 3.1 volts.
Not really clear on how to get the battery out with breaking one of the tabs, there's no give on any of the 3 battery retention tabs.
Just wondering if the car only supports 2 keys at a time.

The second key that the original owner lost MUST be programmed by the dealer at the same time as the other key(s). The dealer enters new codes into the car and keys. It's a bit more complicated than that, but if the lost key wasn't at the dealer when they programmed the other two keys it won't work.
