Smile 981 Boxster S Grill Covers DYI

Wow, major title typo ...DIY

I just purchased a 2013 981 Boxster S last week and the lack of grill/radiator guards didn’t seem too keen.

I shopped for some and was put off the price and one required a simple ten step process to remove the entire front bumper. Google search provided some YouTube videos offering work-a rounds. Most involved going to Home Depot and buying some wire mesh, covering the opening with masking tape and maneuvering the mesh through one opening, while trying to not gouge your hands.

I couldn’t find an decent wire mesh locally but did find on EBAY, this plastic grill material designed for automobiles. I like the look and the amount of material for the price. It was easy to handle and cut, I used a jig saw and my band saw. It can also be trimmed with a small set of cutters.

The advantage to this material is that’s it’s flexible and can be bent to enter the area and will spring back into shape. I secured it with zip ties, not that classy but functional. We will have see our it holds up.ORDER DATE
