Default Would trade your 981 Spyder for 718 Spyder?

Rumors are the next 718 Spyder will be NA and the hype already sailing through most of the GT forum. Assuming the next 718 Spyder has shorter gearing and detune 4.0L from 991.2GT3 engine, plus PTS and bucket seats and RWS. If you're an 981 Spyder owner, WOULD YOU TRADE IN YOUR BEAUTIFUL SPYDER FOR IT? I was actively searching for the right 981 Spyder for months now but can't find the right car and spec, but I definitely settle for the next Spyder regardless how it would look like as long as it has NA 4.0 or 3.8 engine from the GT department.

Here's one consideration. If acquisition of the new Spyder is going to add considerably to personal debt, time till retirement or available driving time what is the true price of being on the bleeding edge of performance? The richest member here can't buy time with their good fortune.

I'm prepared to do just that but really wonder about the value of doing so given the pleasure that I derive from my ideally spec'd current Spyder. The specs mentioned may not replace the delicate balance that a car like the 981 Spyder provide as not many cars are greater than the sum of their parts in the same manner. I was not initially overly impressed with the current Spyder's specs when initially introduced but now realize it's a rare unit. Now, I'm not convinced I'd pull the trigger but prepared to do so just in case. Need to see how the rumors, final specs and initial reports play out.

No. Have PTS already and the car built exactly how I want it. Zero desire to change -
This one is staying with me for some time.
Why would you want RWS on a lightweight mid engine car?

Meh, why bother? No one's butt dyno will feel 20hp or whatever.

981 spyder is my fav new car purchase potentially all-time. And yes I’d trade it for 982/718 spyder as long as it’s NA.

No interest whatsoever, even if it's NA, 450hp and looks amazing. I've never understood trading up to the next version of the exact same car. Love the one you're with, I say. You'll be happier in the long run IMO.

For me no only because I don’t need more power, and for me the Spyder is a fun weekend pleasure car. My belief these are not track cars for safety reasons, and my RS serves that purpose. My opinion people tend to jump at what’s new just because it’s new. I’m on my 4th Porsche and the RS and Spyder has been the perfect combo for me. So no for me, and I also think the current Spyder has perfect lines.

I'll add, but not replace. My 981 spyder is one of my fave cars ever.

I totally agree with current owners decisions and if you build your 981 Spyder to your liking, I don't see the need to upgrade but may add as someone mentioned. Unfortunately I don't have one that meet my specs, hence I settle for the new 718. I am glad you enjoy your Spyder because it give me some comfort and less regrets that I sold my belove 997.1TT Manual. Can't wait to build my next weekend car.

It’s a chance to try a new experience in life. If you don’t like it, you can always trade back in for a 981. Life is short.

My decision to try the 981 spyder in the first place was almost by accident. It was not at all a car I was lusting after. It was a “compromise car”. After I got it, turned out to be one of my all-time favorites. Never would have known if I didn’t at least try it.

I love my Spyder but feel it drives a little soft (compared to my GT4,) and I don't like the fake burbles and farting when I take my foot off the gas.
If the new car would address these small issues, I might change. The likelihood of this, though, in an era where cars become more wussified daily, seems slim to none.

I got lucky and found a spec I loved 90%, and immok with that. I built cars my way and wished I did different. We’re human never satisfied. If I don’t stop I will keep buying and buying. Almost got cleared for a Gt2RS, and I don’t need it. Just because I could don’t mean I should .......I need to remember that(:
